Borderline Speedway

Borderline Speedway Borderline Speedway "Home of the Kings Challenge" The speedway is located 8kms to the east of Mount Gambier on the Princes Highway.

Welcome to Borderline Speedway, Mount Gambier, South Australia, (situated between Melbourne and Adelaide), and is the home of the King’s Sprintcar Challenge and a city surrounded by craters, caves, sinkholes, and the world famous Blue Lake. Borderline Speedway is a club run venue (one of a few venues left in the country that are not promoter run), therefore any profits from the meetings are put di

rectly back into improvements at the venue. The picturesque Borderline Speedway is set amongst many old gum trees and the always immaculate green grassed banks that surround the entire circuit make viewing one of the best in the country, or if you wish, grab a seat in the turn four grandstands for unrestricted viewing of the action. The 372 metre circuit has previously hosted many Blue Ribbon events including the Australian titles for Sprintcars, Super Sedans, Streetstocks, Production Sedans, Wingless Sprints, Late models and most recently the Junior Sedans.

TRACK UPDATE – 28TH AUGUST

The upgrades continue at Borderline Speedway, and there has been plenty of progress happening around the venue!

Concrete wall complete! New mesh now installed. Further cabling and upper mesh work is still to be completed.

New pit gates are currently being made.

Work has officially begun on the new Control Tower/ Canteen. The new control tower will be positioned 5 metres further back, with the slab now complete and the frames starting to go up.

None of these upgrades would be possible without the incredible support and hard work of our loyal band of volunteers, who continue to put in countless hours to help make this happen for our great club.

We would also like to extend a huge thank you to all of the contractors who have assisted with the upgrades so far.

The transformation continues, and we can't wait to share more progress with you next month!🏁

LOCAL MOTORSPORT WORKING TOGETHER

As part of the upgrades at our venue, we’re proud to see our old control tower begin a new chapter, with the building donated to the Mount Gambier Junior Motorcycle Club to assist with the development of their own track.

A huge thank you to Gambier Earth Movers (GEM Group) and Williams Crane Hire for their assistance in transporting and placement of the building to the Mount Gambier Junior Motorcycle Club site.

We’re excited to see the building put to great use and look forward to seeing the continued development of motorsport in our region!

TRACK UPDATE – July 28, 2026

Work continues at the Borderline Speedway as upgrades to the venue progress ahead of the new season.

Installation of the new concrete walls will commence shortly. Additional upright poles for the catch fence have now been installed, with the catch fence mesh having arrived and ready for installation over the coming months.

Demolition of the current control tower has also begun. A brand-new control tower and canteen will be constructed approximately five metres further back from the track. This relocation will allow for the construction of our new corporate boxes (near the rear ticket box), providing an improved view of the racing action.

There are plenty more upgrades planned before the season gets underway, including the installation of a brand-new PA system.

A huge thank you to our dedicated volunteers and contractors for their incredible hard work and commitment. The progress being made is a testament to your efforts, and we can't wait to share more updates as the project continues.
