Day 2 of the trek home! With the weather forecasting temps below 10 degrees with snow down to 800m we were unsure of how today would be. When in the early hours of the morning saw us listening to sleet/hail and downpours of rain, we even thought it might be a hunker and wait a day.

Looking out as the day broke sipping on a hot tea, watching the hail/sleet bounce off Beasties tank πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ there was a blue sky break over the ocean. So deciding to try and skirt the blue sky spots and quickly gear up and catch the 12 Apostles in a break.

As we headed out it was sun and looking promising...... then as we peaked over a crest there was the nasty snowy looking clouds dumping a load of rain looming over the horizon. We pulled up at the 12 Apostles and scurried out to the look out, chased by spots of rain.

It was wild and windy but really suited the scene of where the Apostles truly live and daily conditions the rocks would face. Back on the bikes and off to London Bridge which was rudely shut πŸ€”

So heads down and off to Ballarat for our next stop. In and out of 5 to 8 degree rainy weather until Camperdon where a lovely little bakery beckoned. Just as we sat down to a huge pie and coffee the hail rained down outside, phew missed that.

Back on the bikes and we chased the storm along.... and bloody caught it πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ freezing, wet, 8 degrees we broke out of it to see sun ahead, with nasty clouds behind and either side of us....

Seemed every turn was either straight towards the storm or towards the sun making for a rollercoaster of "yaahhh..... nooooo..... yahhhhh... ffs"

Pulled up at our CASTLE accommodation for the night and can see the nasty part swooping in behind us. Time for a hot spa and hot chocolate!!!

Day 4! Up to a bright sunny morning and first was to navigate the 100km of biker heaven called the Omeo Highway 😍😍 what an amazing road and have i mentioned the scenery yet πŸ€”πŸ«£

Beastie gave me couple slide outs and ally oops and rattled me to slow up but it was very enjoyable regardless. There will be some great camera footage to go through once home to up load!!

Once at Omeo for a home made pie it was realised the time itd take to get to the island and the camping and accreditation office shut at 5pm sharp. Skates on!!

Got there at 5.10pm and the awesome lady served me my papers even though i was late and we rode up to our camp. Holy crap the view πŸ₯°πŸ˜

Off to the shops for food now then rest. Tomorrow is our orientation!

Day 3! Chilly start πŸ₯ΆπŸ₯ΆπŸ₯Ά stopping first at the Snowy Hydro Station for a look around before setting off.

Then straight into the Kosciuszko National Park and over the summit. Beastie told me it was 5 degrees at the top and it felt 100 times colder. More breathtaking scenery and some sad bits of dead brumbies on the plains :-(

Up to where the GPS was screaming "ya mad turn around" and found the road nit only open but clear and twisty! A heart in mouth moment (along with a silent pray thanking the tyre and grip gods) with a decent slide out but beastie held it and we cruised along nicely.

Came out at the Victorian border with a huge metal mechanical crayfish (cause why not πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ) and into VIC we went. Lunch at Corryong at the little Cafe and by chance a wander through the 'man from snowy river museum'!

Back on the road heading towards Dartmouth. Plenty of other bikes on the road around us too. Stopped at the digs for the night and then popped off to look at the Dartmouth Dam. Happened on an awesome road to finish the day off and now pizza at the local pub on the verandah listening to evening birds.

What a 2nd day! To start off we took to Mount Panorama on the bikes.... then for sh*ts and giggles did it again but in reserve direction! Amazing πŸ’• As the Bathurst Race was only last weekend it was in pristine condition with crews tearing down displays and stands on the side of the finish straight.

Topped up the bikes and off we went towards the next destination of Tumut. It was a comfortable enough 15 degrees with a few clouds when we hit the first set of twisties.

The Beastie was growling along like she was a young kitten and not the old cougar she actually is (nearly at 100,000km!). The Ninja of course was prowling along nicely and with some beautiful views, we made our way towards Boorwa.

Dark skies loomed which called for a quick stop to put rain covers on things. No sooner had we left and it was showering on us on and off. Skies cleared, suns out and we dried off and more breathtaking views.

Rolling into Boorwa we had some very meancing looking clouds and in no time we in a deluge of rain and wind. Took shelter at a service station with a Triumph rider (who is going to GP too) and after topping up with fuel, with the rain trying to top off the tanks too we rode off.

Nekmit rain, wind, almost hail, did I say wind..... i swear the wind tried to pick me and the beast up and body slam us into the paddocks!! Did not reach above 10 degrees with the hard rain it was hunker and hold on 😬

Got to Gundagai and youd never know Australia is in the grasp of another drought. Green fields as far as you can see, fat happy cows sleeping, wild Lucerne on the road sides. Saw the dog on the tucker box and then flew.... I mean rode (did I say it was windy yet?) In tumut to our waiting hosts that kindly cleared a shed spot for the bikes.

Time to dry off, have a drink and watch the incredible storm rolling in over the mountains towards us πŸ’œ
