ABB’s Moorebank facility in Sydney is a live site where forklifts, high-voltage electrical testing, active machinery, and more than 500 employees share the same floor, with some testing reaching up to 70,000 volts.
As part of ongoing safety improvements, ABB engaged Barrier Group, starting with an on-site assessment conducted by a dedicated Barrier Group Account Manager.
The outcome is a facility where every zone is clearly defined and protected. Forklifts are kept separate from testing equipment and workstations. Conveyors, lathes, drill presses, cut-off saws and folder presses are physically guarded to prevent unauthorised access. Storage areas have controlled access for both pedestrians and vehicles. Temporary holding bays can be reconfigured quickly as operational needs change, without disrupting the floor.
Clear polycarbonate panels around the testing areas also let customers see ABB’s processes from a fully segregated viewpoint, adding a professional presentation while maintaining safety.
For ABB, working with Barrier Group provided a seamless process from initial site assessment through to sign-off. Barrier Group’s signature turn-key approach delivered the entire fit-out on schedule across a live-working facility, with minimal operational disruption.
The result is an integrated safety solution that protects people, equipment and operations, while giving ABB the flexibility to adapt as site requirements change.
