VE Commodore in for an upgrade from a V6 to V8.

To facilitate this upgrade we decided to go with a complete Haltech package controlling the entire vehicle. All factory wiring was removed and the vehicle was entirely rewired. It now only has 2 relays/fuses for the demisters and 1 fuse for the main battery supply and that’s it.

How you might ask? In conjunction with the Rebel and IC-7 we also utilised the Haltech PD16, 15 button CAN Keypad and reused some factory stalks/buttons to control all other vehicle functions. By doing this we can digitally set current limits to act as in place of “fuses” and also program retries after a set time for circuits that might be affected by high inrush current or other factors. The driver can manually reset these fuses at any time and is alerted of the troubled circuits. Not only does this dramatically simplify diagnostics and remove the need for a large fuse box but it also allows for the functional operation of outputs to be changed by simply reprogramming the unit, and allows for each output to be logged; to accurately view component performance and degradation during or after competing.

Had the pleasure of working on this beast! F250 platinum with the full catalogue of Baja Design lighting. All the lighting is wired through the factory fitted upfitter switches. Dual battery system, replacing one of the cranking batteries with a deep cycle battery. Using a Redarc SBI-12 allows charging of the second battery and also retains the ability to crank from both batteries with a flick of an upfitter switch. Making the most of the second battery with a 3D printed fridge outlet in the tub. Complete caravan towing setup with waterproof Anderson plug covers for longevity and reliability when towing.
