The Don is a totally different beast when it’s wet! This year the river won.

On the first day the boys got through the first lap with the plan to check how much fuel the truck had used over the 50km of sand. In the pits the heat cooked a coolant line that had come loose from a collision through one of the water crossings. The boys had also lost all internal comms due to how much water was coming in the cab. So we called it a day and spent the next 10 hours getting ready for day 2.

Day 2 saw a better run, but still not a full 3 laps as water claimed the electrical again. Overall still a great weekend down in Bowen, but definitely something you can’t prepare for is that volume of water hitting components at 200kmph.

Nick comes onboard not only as a fitter, but also as a shareholder and director, bringing plenty of experience from the EWP game along with him.

Getting ready for day 2 of Motor Events Racing tropic thunder enduro at DriveIt,day 1 went very well with 366 laps completed currently 1st in class fingers crossed the trusty nqdrift e46 can get us to the chequered flag today.

The team turned it up last weekend knocking over a bunch of mods for the ***eyplumbingandcivil Tundra while it was in town for the 2 days 🏎️ 🔥

Dynapac padfoot roller getting new drum mounts fitted this week.

Our inspection caught the worn mounts before they failed. Stock was available in AUS so we got it sorted fast and back to work.

Did you know?

Most people drive over the Burdekin Bridge — the “Silver Link” between Ayr and Home Hill — without realising what sits on top of it.

A bit of background: the bridge opened in 1957 after 10 years of construction, runs 1.1km across the river, and carries both the Bruce Highway and the rail line. At 1,103m it’s one of the longest multi-span bridges in Australia — longer than Brisbane’s Story Bridge and only 46m shorter than the Sydney Harbour Bridge. What makes it unusual is that it’s the only bridge in Australia built on sand, sitting on 11 large hollow concrete caissons sunk around 30m into the riverbed — there was no rock to anchor to. It was recognised as a National Engineering Heritage Landmark in 2010.

What you won’t read elsewhere is that there’s a moving maintenance platform up top running its own generators and compressors. We recently completed a full service and repair campaign across the lot — solid work in a location not many get to see.

The boys have been absolutely ripping in lately — new shop, new mine sites, and wherever the work’s been taking us — so we figured it was time to let them out of the workshop for a bit of fun! 🎉

Cheers to .au for another great local event. Always good to get into someone else’s race car and give it a what for 🏎️🏁
