Established in 1946 as Ulmer Sails, UK Sailmakers is one of the oldest groups of sail lofts in North America. The UK Sailmakers group has grown to nearly 50 lofts and service centers around the world whose goal is to deliver sails using the most advanced design technologies and materials. Hamilton Island Race Week 2026 has been a “full offshore” style regatta, with big wind, big seas and rain squalls. Many of the Obsession crew are even questioning the decision to leave their sea boots and bear suits in Perth!
After Wet Sunday and Big Monday, Changeable Tuesday offered new challenges with a race up, across and down the actual Whitsunday Passage. The white-out squall with gusts to 39 knots saw Brian McMasters (Farr) Q Racing join Dave Davenport’s big dinghy Don’t Panic in the sick bay, but the seasoned Obsession crew pushed through to bank a third, with Ikon banging in another picket and the RPAYC Farr 40OD Seeking Alpha (with Spitty’s brother Spitty calling tactics) wedging in for second.
