This is one of those cars that had been not just neglected but mistreated by a few consecutive owners and then offloaded to someone right before it ran out Rego. It wouldn’t pass a pink slip for a myriad of reasons so the owner brought it to us to have fixed up and also gotten ready for some more mods in the future as long as it passed rego. First thing was a bunch of codes that needed to be sorted. We repaired wiring, replaced a couple sensors, and made sure the corresponding codes stayed cleared. Next was a bad leak from the slave cylinder so the box came straight out and that’s when we noticed the clutch had maybe 2 burnouts in it left if it was lucky. So a new single plate ceramic clutch kit with slave was ordered from Textralia. The owner plans to cam the car so we wanted a clutch that can handle everything. We have used this clutch more times than I can count and I had one in my LS Turbo for many years before going T400. After that it was onto the exhaust, the car had factory optioned tubular headers and a half dead 3 inch cat back but stock cat sections with damaged cats, so we made up new 3 inch cat sections with high flow cats and repaired the cat back so it will last at least until the car gets cammed. We were tuning the car anyway so a VCM OTR was fitted in replace of the old Growler kit the car had. With the new clutch and cat sections the car made 197kw and 425nm on the standard tune, after tuning it made 235kw and 484nm which is a nice pickup.
