This BF XR6 Turbo came back for round two… and it definitely didn’t leave quietly. 👌

The car returned after some fresh mods were added since its last visit, where it previously made 363rwkw.

The tune it arrived with was unsafe to continue power runs on, so we started from scratch and recalibrated the combo properly on 98.

Now making:
🔥 393rwkw
🔥 781Nm
🔥 20psi

Still a relatively basic Barra combo:

- Bosch 1150cc injectors.
- Walbro 350 fuel pump.
- Empire valve springs.
- Process West Stage 3 intercooler.
- Process West throttle body relocation with 3” cold side piping.
- 2.5” alloy hot side piping.
- Venom 4” dump, 5” high flow cat and X-Force twin 2.5” cat back.
- Stock 3582 with billet compressor wheel and flapper mod.
- 4” turbo side intake.

ZF-equipped street cars with torque like this are an absolute weapon on the road.

If your diesel is working hard every day… hauling tools, towing, or loaded up — it shouldn’t feel sluggish or chew through fuel doing it.

This 2010 Toyota Hilux (1KD) came in completely stock, just like most work utes on the road.

The brief was simple:
👉 Better fuel economy
👉 More usable power for daily work

No parts fitted. Just a proper dyno tune.

📊 Results:
• 89kW / 490Nm as received
• 114kW / 565Nm tuned

That extra torque down low makes a real difference where it counts — taking off, hills, towing, and carrying load.

Another clean result through the workshop 👇

2005 BF Falcon – budget turbo setup

This one came in as a very simple, budget-minded build. The goal wasn’t huge power — just to step it up from stock NA performance and bring in some boost (and the right noises to match).

Running a factory FG 3576 turbo on the standard turbo manifold, paired to the stock NA exhaust via the factory-style dump pipe — a smart, no-frills combo that gets the job done.

📊 Results (98 octane | 5.5psi):
As arrived: 149rwkW / 486Nm
Tuned: 209rwkW / 549Nm

A solid gain across the board, with noticeable improvements in drivability and midrange torque — exactly what the customer was chasing.

Not every build needs to be extreme. Sometimes it’s about keeping things simple, cost-effective, and enjoyable to drive.

This FG XR6 Turbo came in after being tuned elsewhere, needing drivability sorted and midrange brought to life.

Before: 346rwkw / 629nm
After: 367rwkw / 729nm

That’s over 100nm gained through the midrange right where you feel it.

Sometimes they’re just built to hurt feelings.

This is our personal BF Fairlane, back on the dyno for a fresh retune after stepping things up with a Crow Cams Stage 4 and locked VCT setup.

Still running a high-kilometre green top Barra, but don’t let that fool you…

3 Power Levels. One Very Serious Setup.

• 10psi – 304rwkw / 739nm
• 18psi – 406rwkw / 921nm
• 20psi – 444rwkw / 970nm

All on E85, controlled through a Haltech CAN keypad — because one power level just isn’t enough.

🚫 Random stalling? Not everything is a tuning issue…

Had this VE SS Commodore roll into the shop with a frustrating, intermittent stalling problem — no clear pattern, just cutting out when it felt like it.

This one’s running an L77 with a Magnuson 2300 supercharger backed by a 6L80 auto, so naturally the first thought is tuning… but that’s not how we do things.

🔍 Proper diagnosis comes first.

We went through:

Wiring checks

Multiple datalogs

Sensor monitoring under different conditions

After digging deep, the culprit turned out to be a cheap aftermarket MAP sensor causing inconsistent readings.

⚠️ Not all parts are created equal.

We replaced it with a genuine LSA MAP sensor, verified the data, and the issue was completely resolved — no tuning required.

✅ No more stalling
✅ Stable operation
✅ Customer back on the road with confidence

💡 The takeaway?
Throwing parts or jumping straight into a tune won’t fix underlying issues. Accurate diagnosis is everything.

Another solid result on the dyno this week at Barrage Tuning Solutions with this tough Nissan GU Patrol in for a custom tune.

This one was built by a local mechanic, fully engineered and road legal, and came in needing the calibration sorted so it could make the most of the setup.

📊 Dyno Results
• 221kw – As it arrived
• 260kw – Tuned on 95 octane
• 303kw – Tuned on 98 octane

A great gain across the board with smoother power delivery and a safe, reliable tune.

We set the vehicle up with separate tuning for both 95 and 98 octane, giving the owner flexibility depending on what fuel is available.

BA XR8 Ute – From Risky to Right

This Ford Falcon BA XR8 came in with extractors and a custom 3” exhaust already fitted… but the tune? Not good.

As it arrived:
245rwkw / 451nm

At full throttle in low rpm it was leaning out hard enough to cause misfire. That’s not “just a bad tune” — that’s engine damage waiting to happen, especially in a T5 manual where you can load it up early.

Instead of just chasing numbers, we fixed it properly.

🔧 Replaced a faulty alternator
🔧 Removed old immobiliser wiring and messy aftermarket light harnesses
🔧 Correctly coded ICC & HIM modules
🔧 Rebuilt the factory calibration using PCMTEC

No shortcuts. No band-aids.

Final result:
262rwkw / 492nm

More power, more torque — but more importantly, safe air-fuel ratios, clean throttle response and strong, consistent pull through the rev range.

Anyone can flash a file and add timing.
Proper tuning is about making the car reliable, repeatable and right.

FG XR6 – From Problem Child to Proper Performer ✅

This FG XR6 came in down on power, hard to start when cold, and suffering random misfires — not the kind of car you just “tune around”.

After proper diagnosis, the culprit was found to be a faulty injector. We rectified the issue and upgraded the fuel system to suit the combination properly.

Mods & work completed:
• Pacemaker 4495 extractors
• High-flow cat converter
• XR8 intake snorkel
• Underdrive kit
• Walbro 255 fuel pump
• Raceworks 1000cc injectors (supplied & fitted by us)

Once everything was mechanically sound, we completed a full dyno tune with a strong, reliable result:

Final Result:
➡️ 191kW / 421Nm

Smooth cold starts, no misfires, and power delivery that matches the hardware — how it should be.
