This is an old photo but always makes me grin. Was a 750 GT motor that had destroyed it’s big end. There was the normal angular contact main bearing on one side of the crank but a standard roller bearing on the other. Can you imagine the scenario of events on first startup after the guy rebuilt the motor? This motor actually had a set of 750SS billet machined rods in it. ☹️

Scarab calliper pistons. Back from hard anodising.
There is a myth that scarab callipers are less than reliable. Maybe the original pistons were lacking in the quality of anodising but they are basically just as good as the Lockheed and Brembos. Brembo callipers had a bit better design with the added piston dust seal. The main problem with the Scarab system was the mechanism inside the master cylinder. It’s an easy fix converting it to a more reliable design.
