Does anyone know what happened to the fabulous Art Deco Rootes factory at 19-25 Salmon Street Port Melbourne? It was slated for demolition. This would be a terrible loss of what little is left of this area's history – which included development of the top-secret wartime tank - the Australian Cruiser 1 (AC1) during WWII in this very building, which later became the Rootes Group factory – the first British car company to manufacture cars in Australia – including Humber, Hillman and Sunbeam-Talbot cars, along with Commer and Karrier trucks. Another fantastic Shannons Sydney Classic car show at Sydney Motorsport Park, Eastern Creek despite rain early in the day. An absolutely huge mix of classic British, Australian, European and Japanese sports cars, US muscle cars, 4WDs, Military & Police vehicles and buses 🚌 . Well worth braving the elements. Enjoy!

Another great cars and Coffee event in St Ives near Sydney this morning. An absolute highlight for me was a beautiful Jensen Interceptor convertible which is probably the most impressive restomod I've seen done on a British car. Beneath the hood lurks a 6.4L hemi engine moved back into the chassis and eight-speed gearbox and a Jaguar independent rear end. The interior has been completely done in a beautiful brown leather befitting a gentleman's lounge. The custom silver paint was sensational as were the angel eye headlights, which are actually off a motorcycle. Upgraded brakes to handle the extra power and big wheels to clear the brakes completed the picture. A truly stunning car.
