Walking through my trusted mechanics workshop the other day, I saw this little beauty and it made me reflect.
We are in an era where we pursue the latest update, a disposal society where you donโt maintain we just replace. No one is in awe of the last iphone4 and ensuring its upkeep.
Good to be reminded of what a pristine โClassicโ looks like. What it might mean to its owner, the commitment to maintain something truly analog in its experience. Attached to it is memory, not in terms of capacity but rather its history. The previous owners, the road itโs travelled , the memories it created and those I still to be made.
These cars need good people surrounding it that appreciate what it was and can still be. Good mechanics that are capable of understanding and have the skill to be able to maintain such cars for owners to enjoy in the present. You need to go back and appreciate the past to keep it going into the future.
Letโs hope in our EV destined future there is a place for but one of many examples of these classics cars, the enthusiasts owners, the admirers, the appreciators and the supporting players that keep these cars on the road.
To move forward, hopefully, it doesnโt mean that we stop looking in the rear vision of our rich motoring history and adopt a tunnel vision. Encompassing a 360 degree of the road ahead where we can still experience the richness of our past would truly make our future driving experience even more electric!
