"What the hell is clay barring?"
I hear this so often, and it's a fair question so today I thought I would share what it is, what it does, and why you need it if you want to maintain the appearance and longevity of your vehicles.
Clay barring is part of the exterior chemical decontamination process. We use a special resin compound that removes any further iron, salt, tar, sap, etc contamination that wasn't removed in either if the 2 previous washes. Sure the paint looks clean, but as you will hear in the video, the scratchy sand paper sound is all the crap stuck in the clear coat of your paint. Contaminants that have bonded to the clear coat can prevent wax from protecting your car as well as it was designed to, and worse yet, cause scratches.
The purpose of clay barring is to remove the gunk prior to paint correction and/or protection so your paint is properly protected after the finish and it looks and feels great.
