WESTERN SYDNEY ANNOUNCES RICHEST SPRINTCAR EVENT IN THE VENUEāS HISTORY
Official release: Western Sydney Speedway
August 10, 2026
Western Sydney Speedway has taken the wraps off the biggest Sprintcar event in the venueās history with a two-night extravaganza that pays homage to the sport of Sprintcar racingās roots in Sydneyās West.
The first annual āPCR Nationalsā is coming.
Held over two nights ā Friday January 29 and Saturday January 30, 2027 the PCR Nationals will pay out over $80,000 across the weekend and is expected to attract the cream of Australian, USA and NZ teams the week after the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic.
It is a deliberate and measured tribute to Parramatta City Raceway and the iconic Speedway by the Freewayās culture and proud history.
āWith the weekend after the Classic free for at least two years it makes sense to have the elite teams racing at Western Sydney Speedway on the heels of the earlier January 3 PWR TFH Sprintcar Power Tour,ā says event creator Wade Aunger, āI spoke to many of the teams and asked them what it might take to attract them to Sydney on January 29 and 30 and their answers were very much the same. They wanted to race for some significant prize-money at a significant event. Speaking with the Board and management of Western Sydney Speedway we were able to come up with that. I canāt wait. This will be the last chance for Americans to race in Australia before they head home so itās good timing.ā
With $15,000 to win the Saturday night A-Main and a tasty preliminary night A-Main payout as well the big dollars are well and truly up for grabs.
Fans can expect an influx of many USA drivers (both East Coast and Western Australia based teams) and elite Aussies making their way north from Warrnambool after The Classic before heading West to the Perth Motorplex for the huge month of February.
āThe schedule works for the January 29/30 weekend before teams either head West to The Perth Motorplex or north to Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway,ā says Aunger, āthe time is right to create something new for Sydney fans that also has a strong nod to the nostalgia and the history of PCR. This is not a comparison point, itās a way of celebrating the many legends of the sport at Parramatta that we never got to salute with PCRās closure.ā
The announcement of the PCR Nationals is expected to attract the strongest field seen at the venue since its inception.
Western Sydney Speedwayās Board and management is excited to confirm the event.
āThe Sprintcar Power Tour last season proved that fans in Sydney want to see the best teams available racing at a venue that we believe is one of the best in the world,ā says chairman Tony Beuk. āWeāre excited to showcase the sport at Western Sydney Speedway over the two nights and at the same time pay tribute to the history of speedway at PCR.ā
More information will be released soon but for now the delicious proposition of both the TFH PWR Sprintcar Power Tour on January 3 and the inaugural PCR Nationals on January 29/30 means that the month of January for fans in New South Wales will be like Christmas all over again.
