I stumbled across these amazing Fishtank ornaments at an aquarium store in Castle Hill. If you’re a car guy or girl, you won’t believe what you can get. Imagine a VL Walkinshaw in your Fishtank!! My fav was probably the Datto 1600 though. Anyway I wanted to share this with you as I thought you might like this too. On Sunday we ran our Advanced Driving Program. Everyone picked up the training well and improved the basics, moving towards more advanced driving techniques. We had front-wheel drives, rear-wheel drives and all-wheel drives attending, giving us the full range of vehicles to explore their dynamics. Thanks for coming along everyone, we had a great day.

Yesterday we ran another Defensive Driving Program. We had people who were gifted the course by a loved one and people who had been sent by their workplace. Overall, everyone did a fantastic job and successfully learned new skills. Tomorrow we run our Advanced Driving Program. 👍

When the lane next to you is ending, always check your left mirror to see if there is another vehicle coming up beside you. In this case here you see a speeding ute (of course it was a green P in a Ranger) scoot up the inside then cut across two lanes and run a red light. This is the sort of driver you want to stay well away from.

Is the art of driving a manual vehicle dying? Opportunity to learn to drive a manual is diminishing along with vehicle options to purchase. Do you see the need to learn to drive a manual vehicle when it’s virtually impossible to buy one new? In a few years the older manual vehicles will be long gone and we think so will this skill. Thoughts??

Speedometer accuracy varies in every vehicle. It is most likely less accurate at higher speeds when you have changed tyres, don’t check tyre pressures often and or there is a calibration error. The worst case would be that your Speedo reads lower than you actual speed as you would be more likely to break the law and receive a fine. Also remember the speed limit is the maximum speed you are allowed to travel at, not the required speed. Meaning if there are reasons to slow down, you should. Those reasons are too many to list hear, but we cover them if our driving programs and this could just be the difference between life or death.

We have just returned from a Defensive Driving Program, facilitated for a not-for-profit organisation on the NSW far North Coast. They do well over 25,000km/s per quarter each year, conducting important social work. To help these staff stay safe while at work is our pleasure, and we hope to see them again in the future.

We had a very rare Datsun 1600 fastback at testing this week. Someone had taken the time to restore it and while it didn’t have the original engine it was very well put together. This also shows how advanced motoring has taken the driver engagement away. Vehicles like this are visceral, you feel them, you hear them and in some cases even smell them. If you have ever sat in a 1600 they all have a distinct aroma. This time we actually checked and showed the twin side draft webers, so enjoy the sounds of yesteryear! On Friday, our team facilitated a capacity Defensive Driving Program for people who primarily drive for work purposes. Everyone learned valuable skills and improved their hazard response. However, our theory shows you how to avoid situations that put you at risk in the first place. No doubt these drivers now can Steer Safely on our roads.
