Trying to find out more about Vendetta revealed she is a bit of a celebrity in Tassie - so many people have reached out because they remember her. She has even recently made it into a book on historical wooden boats of Tasmania.
This is what we have found so far:
I know where she ended up! Billy and I have her now, and are intent on restoring her to her former self.
A little about her history - from what I have been able to research:
* Built by Alf Cuthbertson in Montague Bay Tasmania around 1948
* originally white hull and mahogany upper, short white mast, venetian blinds in cabin windows and rear louvre doors
* Moored in Newtown Bay Hobart late 1950's to 1960's (owned by Shield Earth Moving owner)
* Spotted moored back in Montague Bay in 1970's
* Earliest photo we have come across is from around 1988 when she was in a wooden boat regatta. Photo taken off Sandy Bay by Graeme Broxam
* Converted to a live-aboard, painted navy grey, and moored in Kettering around 2006
* Moved from Hobart to Sydney September 2017 by Delivery Skippers (for owner Peter M. Wargent, journalist for The Australian))
* sold ?. Unfortunately took on water in all the bad weather, so motor ceased. Her owner passed away and it was too much for his widow to maintain. At one stage she fell off a kayak trying to get onto Vendetta and required rescuing. This is when she put Vendetta up for sale through Willis Spearman.
* Sold to a young fellow who didn't realise how much he was taking on, so he sold her to us.
* Towed to Brisbane Waters (Central Coast) July 2021
* Currently at marina for external restoration and to have the engine removed for rebuild.
