This is our Variety Bash Car , built by myself and my best mates for our very first Variety Victoria Bash as Team 8488 – Bust A Nut.

Being Holden fans by nature, building this Holden VR Commodore Supercar tribute was a natural choice. When a clean red VR Commodore came up for sale, we snapped it up straight away. We based the build around the iconic Wayne Gardner Supercar, while adding our own spin to make it something that truly represented us and what our team stands for.

Along the way, local business Drouin Smash Repairs reached out and offered their services to help turn our vision into reality. We were absolutely blown away. In our eyes, this is the truest form of a selfless act, passionate people coming together to support something they believe in and helping create something special for the community.

The Parnassus Country Family Day Out reminded us exactly why we built this car. Watching the kids’ faces light up when they saw it, hearing their excitement, and seeing them jump in to be part of the experience was incredibly rewarding. Those moments make every late night, every challenge, and every bit of hard work worth it.

This car is more than just a build to us. It represents mate ship, passion, community and caring for others. It’s about creating smiles, memories and experiences that people will never forget and that’s exactly what Team 8488 – Bust A Nut is all about.

VR 5L Commodore in for a bit of love — not running its best and due for a tidy-up 🔧

✔️ New injectors
✔️ Manifold removed, sandblasted & internally cleaned
✔️ Water crossover passages welded up
✔️ Rocker covers & top plate powder coated
✔️ New radiator + full cooling system flush
✔️ Wiring tidied up

A little more involved than working on LS gear, but just as rewarding.

Nothing better than helping bring an owner’s vision to life and seeing the end result come together exactly how they imagined. 👌
