The final, and most worrying, thing picked on the roadworthy list of the HQ Holden was what appeared to be bubbling rust under filler in the rear dogleg.

Luckily for this client it was only a bad repair job over some dents. For the purpose of roadworthy we only removed the filler and primed the area proving there was no nasty rust underneath. This area will be looked at at a later date, but for now its ready to get back on the road

Now that the brake light in the dash of this Holden was plugged back in it wouldn’t turn off due to the underlying issue in this wagons braking system. Not only did we need new wheel cylinders, we needed new front rotors, pads and a new master cylinder. Once the system was bled in the HQ that pesky little light turned off and this Wagon stops once again. Part three of the roadworthy list completed.

While driving this Holden HQ Wagon and getting her ready for roadworthy we noticed it didn’t run too well. So we decided to tune the quadrajet and replace the ignition system with an MSD Ready to run Distributor, coil and leads. Definitely made this car run much smoother.
At the same time we turned our attention to get all the electrical’s working. As per usual there were components that had worn out but more often then not if you have globes continually blowing or not working in cars of this era it is down to earthing issues. Once all of these were ironed out, we plugged the brake light in the dash back in and realised it was unplugged because of the issue in the braking system. Part two of the roadworthy list completed.

This Holden HQ Wagon came in for some work to get her running better and roadworthy, as usual the roadworthy list was quite extensive.
We decided to address the steering first by disassembling the column, removing all the broken bolts, cleaning and lubricating it and then reassembling with new components.
This helped some but all of the issues weren’t only in the column. The steering box was removed and sent for rebuild then refitted. Part one of the roadworthy list completed.

This Genuine Ford XWGT has come into the shop to have the Holley Sniper Fuel injection tuned on the 351 Windsor.
Before tuning could begin we needed to address the issues in his fuel delivery system. We made and fitted 3/8 Stainless Steel return line from the Sniper to the tank, fitted pre pump filter and replaced his burnt out ignition system with an MSD ready to run system. We then turned our attention to tuning his Sniper system and locking out the learn. Not 100% where we would like to be but at the best case scenario while he is running a fuel pump that is fluctuating too much as well as not capable of supporting his fueling needs at Wide Open throttle.
He is, however, able to now drive and cruise in the car which is much better then the 150km he struggled to do before it came for tuning. If your interested in learning more about what we did to this system tune into our upcoming Video.
