FG XR6T 🔧

Lochie was recommended to us and made the trip down from Bendigo to Dalmore Dyno for some maintenance and a retune.

The car had a few basic mods and an existing tune, but it was very underwhelming to drive. After starting with some datalogging, it was clear the engine was running excessively rich — likely due to incorrect injector data in the previous calibration.

Once the correct injector data was entered, fuel trims came back into line and the retune began properly. Not long into it, the car was still struggling — which led to finding a blocked catalytic converter choking the setup.

A quick call to George at Venom Exhaust and he came through after hours on a Sunday with a 4” dump and cat — absolute legend.

With the mechanical & tune issues sorted, the calibration was finalised properly:
▪️ Drivability restored
▪️ Power delivery cleaned up
▪️ Strong, consistent boost control

Final result: 280rwkw with a nice flat boost curve.

If you’re chasing reliable performance work or dyno tuning, feel free to get in touch.

Michael brought his cammed FG XR6T ute into Dalmore Dyno chasing a fix for some pretty major drivability issues — stalling, coughing, spluttering and overall lack of power.

He’d previously been told this was about as good as it gets on the factory ECU, and that the only real solution was to move to a Haltech setup. The car had even gotten to the point where the throttle body was drilled just to help it start and idle when warm, which is never the right way to go about it 🤕

I started by going through the car properly — drained the oil (which looked more like diesel oil), carried out a full service, replaced the throttle body with a correct undrilled unit, and gave everything a thorough check over while it was apart.

From there, the calibration was reworked from the ground up — taking the time to properly sort out the idle control, fueling and overall drivability rather than just masking the issues.

After spending the time to dial everything in, the result is a car that now starts cleanly hot or cold, idles consistently without any tricks, and drives smoothly in all conditions — exactly how it should, while still keeping the cammed setup enjoyable 🔧

No need for unnecessary ECU swaps — just taking the time to calibrate the factory system properly.
With a solid set of mods already in place, the car made easy power. The owner’s priority was reliability and drivability after everything it had been through, so it was left at a safe and responsive 354rwkw on 98 — and it absolutely drives the way it should.

If you’re chasing proper results without cutting corners, feel free to get in touch.

FG G6ET Back for Round 2 🔧

Returning customer Stephen brought his FG G6ET back in for the next stage of upgrades.

After fitting a 4” full exhaust on the factory turbo setup, the car developed boost creep. This meant we couldn’t bring the boost in early, leaving the car feeling flat and lazy until higher in the RPM range — so it was time to step things up properly.

Upgrades carried out:
▪️ ANTZ Stage 2 Intercooler Kit
▪️ PSR Gen3 GTX3584 (External Gate)
▪️ Upgraded Valve Springs
▪️ Upgraded Head Studs
▪️ Catch can setup with AN-8 lines

With boost control now properly sorted, I was able to dial the calibration in to deliver strong, responsive power right through the entire rev range.
Final result: 370rwkw on 98 🔥

BF F6 – Back Running the Way It Should 🔧

345rwkw

This BF F6 came into Dalmore Dyno after the owner was recommended to us. The car had previously been to a couple of workshops trying to get it sorted, but it still wasn’t running the way it should.
It’s a beautiful example of an F6...
When the car arrived there were a few things that needed attention:

▪️ High idle
▪️ Boost control non-functioning
▪️ Incorrect airflow calculations
▪️ Low-speed thermo fan not operating
▪️ No O₂ control at idle
▪️ Cruise control not functioning correctly

No criticism of anyone involved previously — sometimes things just need a fresh set of eyes. The goal was simply to go through the calibration properly and make sure everything was working as intended by Ford.
Once the issues were addressed and the car was re-tuned correctly, the car settled into a smooth idle, fuel trims were within spec & it started behaving correctly, and overall drivability improved significantly.
At Dalmore Dyno the focus is always on doing things properly rather than rushing the job and giving the customer a high power figure. Taking the time to go through everything carefully ensures the car leaves running the way it should — smooth, reliable and enjoyable to drive on and off boost.

370RWKW FG XR6T Ute on 98 🔥

Stewart brought his FG XR6T ute into Dalmore Dyno wanting the car set up properly with reliability in mind. The car already had a few mods and an unknown tune done elsewhere, so the first step was getting it on the dyno to see what we were working with.

The baseline run produced 250rwkw on 13psi with the stock 3576 turbo.

Power wasn’t Stewart’s main concern though — he simply wanted the car done right with some preventative upgrades.

While carrying out the work, components that were removed were thoroughly cleaned, inspected and refreshed before reassembly. Taking the time to prepare parts properly helps ensure the finished result is not only reliable, but also clean and tidy for years to come.

Upgrades included:

▪️ PSR GTX3584 Gen3 Turbo (External Gate)
▪️ ANTZ Battery Relocation & 4" Turboside Intake
▪️ VENOM 4" Dump & Cat into the factory catback (nice and quiet)
▪️ Bosch 1000/1150cc Injectors
▪️ Atomic Timing Chain Kit with genuine tensioner
▪️ Walbro Intake Pump
▪️ Yella Terra Billet Flexplate + ARP Bolts
▪️ Upgraded Valve Springs & Head Studs
▪️ Billet Oil Pump Gears & Backing Plate
▪️ Welsh Plugs
▪️ New Harmonic Balancer
▪️ New Water Pump
▪️ ZF Transmission Service

We also added a bit of subtle detail, painting the timing case, sump and FG intake manifold in heat silver, with the rocker cover finished in wrinkle red for a clean factory-style finish.

Finished off with a custom Dalmore Dyno tune on 98, producing a reliable 370rwkw on our Harsh Mainline roller dyno while retaining smooth factory drivability. Tuned with PCMTEC on the Factory ECU.

A perfect street Barra combo 👌

Cheers,
Brad 🍻

Hey everyone, busy busy… I’ve been a bit slack on the socials again 😅 I’ll post up some cool cars when I get a spare minute (which never really happens).

It’s a one-man show here, handling everything from mechanical work, tuning, quotes, emails, phone calls, parts ordering & pickups, wiring, support, dyno time and track support… while also trying to answer messages in between it all.

There’s been plenty of late nights on the dyno and in the workshop to squeeze people in, which usually turns into 9PM finishes, reheated dinners, then up again to do it all over. Running a business definitely isn’t for the weak! 😬

I’m also trying to keep some sort of work/life balance, keep the family happy, stay in touch with mates and occasionally pretend I have a life outside of Dalmore… it’s a constant juggling act 😂

If replies are a bit slow or the phone rings out, it’s usually because I’ve got my head under a bonnet or the car is strapped to the dyno. I always do my best to get back to everyone as soon as I can, and I really appreciate the patience 🙏

There are some awesome builds in the shop at the moment and plenty more booked in. I’ll make a proper effort to get more photos and videos up so you can see what’s been happening behind the scenes.

Thanks again to everyone for the ongoing support – I always aim to produce the best work I possibly can, and with most of my work coming from word of mouth, I genuinely appreciate it all 😀

Barra turbo converted GU Patrol in for a tune this week

Pre runned on the exisiting tune done elsewhere at 165rwkw running poorly with way too much boost & timing for the engine setup.

Now making 213rwkw on much lower boost & timing, tuned correctly & safely to suit the high compression engine on 98. This thing moves now for a heavy bus!
