Offering all your 4x4 needs with lift kits, bar work, snorkels, tyres, diff locks, gear changes, cuard cuts, custom full seal intakes, even including full seal carby GQ Patrol gas intakes, manual conversions, engine transplants and we do full diesel conversions if petrol/gas isn't your thing anymore. At JV Automotive we understand that not every part can be bought and everyones needs and wants for their vehicle are different ... So if we cant source what you are after, we will make it! We had a customer bring his VE Commodore in this week and on inspection we found a rattling noise, an engine light present with timing related engine codes in the ECU.

This particular VE is on gas which is why there is little to no carbon build up but the timing chain had unfortunately skipped a gear tooth, indicating the chain has stretched, however this VE is the cleanest we've seen so far when doing timing chains! We were also extremely surprised to find out this is the first time the timing chains had ever been replaced at 325,000kms!

If your VE Commodore is rattling on start up, losing power, or showing a check engine light, the timing chain could be to blame!

Last week was a very big week for the Team with a huge amount of road worthy's, coolant leaks, tyre's, servicing and repairs!

This week's agenda is even bigger! Just today the team have started a clutch replacement on a D22 Navara, a transmission replacement in a Santa Fe, a GU motor removal and tuning a VE Commodore with more major repairs booked in for the rest of the week! 😆

Last week we had a little Mitsubishi Mirage in with a lazy starter motor that was noisy and inconsistently starting, here’s what we did!

We removed the starter motor and found the flex plate damaged and teeth chipped off, when constantly starting your vehicle with a noisy starter motor, it causes incomplete engagement with the flex plate, leading to grinding, worn or broken teeth, and eventually cracks or warping. Over time, this can result in engine starting issues, and even total flex plate failure.

In this case, we had to remove the transmission, replace the flex plate and replace the starter motor!
