Exciting news! Haltech has come on board for the VKS14!

I will be running a Nexus R5 with a compliment of sensors including dual wideband, EGT's, Keypad and a UC-10 Dash which will fit nicely in the S15 dash I've put back into the S14.

Been getting busy designing the harness in the background, so as soon as I get the engine all back together and installed back in the car, I'll get wiring this bad boy up!

Massive thanks to the companies that have supported me this far, looking forward to getting back out there and smoking up some tyres.

So after a big week on the VKS14, discovering a few challenges along the way to finding solutions.

Started off with getting the engine out, and start the cleaning / heads of process.

We discovered initially, that the V8 Supercar valve springs, were not going to be suitable for the end of next years build, aiming for 10K RPM, and only had 58lb seat tension at install height. So were able to assist us with a dual spring for the VK56DE that would sit us @ 85lb seat tension. Issue #1 solved!

Once I had both heads off and cleaned the block etc. Sent the heads off to to be clearanced for the V8 Supercar camshafts but also cleaned and replace a few valves, as unfortunately (You'll see in images) the tape I used to seal the engine over the years, appears to have leaked... and had some water sitting on top of a few valves. Thank you to the guys at Southside for getting that all sorted for me.

Bolted the heads on so I could measure piston to valve clearance (As we have no data) but also dial the camshafts in. And in arises issue #2.

The camshaft lobe is too big and wipes off the edge of both sides of the 34mm bucket... Also at times, causing the camshaft to jam due to side loading the bucket. So after a lengthy phone call to Jim Wolf in California (Clark you are awesome and appreciate all the information you were able to give me), discovered the Supercars ran a custom head that in fact used a 38mm bucket (4mm larger) in the last few years it seams of their program... Hence the camshafts not working.

So after a chat with Shannon and Tom over at , decided their 237-C camshafts were going to be the easiest solution to get me out of trouble.. Also massive thanks to Nidhin over at for allowing me to have a set of the Kelford camshafts from your order as they were in fact out of stock.

So issue #2 solved, and continue on with the rest of the car. Cleaned the block, got the front cover ready for the dry sump setup, got the new LED headlights housed in the FRP Combat eyes, S15 dash nearly in the car, hydraulic handbrake setup all plumbed in with Raceworks product, with rear bias valve and a shut off valve (For those big skids and not ruining my rear pads) AND got some EGT ports welded into my primary heads (I really wish I made these now and not 6 years ago, my welding is soo much better now haha. BUT not making them again) before they left for HPC coating.

What a roller coaster of a week!

More news coming soon as well as things develop, thanks for reading and hope you all have an awesome few weeks ahead until I can get stuck into this build again!

After spending some time fixing a few things to get to this point, we got Garth's R33 safely to 585hp on 18psi.

With a single walbro 460 and 1000cc injectors currently installed, we're at the limit of the fuel system for now.

It's been a long road for him to get here, and I'm happy he was able to trust me with getting all the years worth of effort across the finish line. Few more things to sort out over some time, but can start enjoying all the effort he's put in.

This is a particular build I've had the pleasure of building for Andrew, and currently on it's way home to NZ.

Running a rebuilt forged SR20, peicing this car back together has been no small task. But one I'm happy to be sending to an excited customer. Running a PWR water to air intercooler for maximum response, this little beast will be a weapon on the streets of NZ. All custom piping / exhaust / mechancial and tuning etc all done here in house. Can't wait for Andrew to get his car back and hear it in person for the first time! Builds like this, are why I love this job.

Thanks to Hock's Mod Shop for getting the carbon sorted.

Dropping off some of the VKS14 carbon pieces to Rhys at Hock's Mod Shop to get sanded back and clear coated to help bring it back to life. 🤙

This fuel tank was no exception.
Believe it or not though, it's all back up and running with an FPG in tank surge tank setup.
More posts to come on this build.

It's been like this all week most days getting parts in for the VKS14.

Supertech dual valve springs as unfortunately the V8 supercar springs won't get us to the eventual 10,000rpm I want to hear this engine at.

Some headlights to go in the Origin combat eyes.

And some HFM Parts brake adapters to make it easier to bolt on the 370z Akebono's on the front, and the GKTech 350z twin pot calipers on the rear.

Hopefully the next post in a few weeks, may see the engine all back together with the heads currently off being clearanced, serviced and checked over ready to go. Bottom end looks awesome and can still see the Nissan honing in the bores.

Been a productive week on the old girl 👌

Being able to work with companies such as Raceworks , whilst they continue to develop their products to make them better for us, is always amazing!

VKS14 progress, using all raceworks products for all the fuel, oil and coolant routing 👌👌👌 Can't wait until the end result with the car being blasted and painted to show everyone.

Have been using their products now for the better part of 10 years in various customer builds etc, and they've never disappointed.

People that run fuel cell foam, please be aware it does break down and requires replacing at regular intervals even if you're only running 98.

This is the result of leaving it too long, blocking the fuel pump intake, 2 x damaged fuel pumps from the surge tank due to lack of fuel, and thankfully this car at least had lambda safeties I tuned in via the Haltech Elite ECU, to stop the engine hurting itself whilst the customer was on track.

Another reason why I recommend having a fuel pressure sensor, as would of caught this issue potentially earlier and saved the customer a track day and 2 fuel pumps

At least the engine is okay
