🚗 WA personalised number plate owners – this is important!

If you own personalised, custom, themed or premium number plates that are currently being stored by the Department of Transport, I strongly encourage you to take 5–10 minutes to complete this survey. I’ve attached the link below.

The Department is reviewing how unused optional number plates are stored and is asking for public feedback on several possible changes. The survey includes questions about whether customers would be willing to pay an ongoing storage fee, as well as whether owners should be allowed to keep their own unused plates and accept the legal and financial responsibility while they’re not fitted to a vehicle.

Personally, I’d much rather have the option of keeping my own plates than paying an annual storage fee for number plates that I already own. It would also allow us to legally display them in our garage, workshop or home until we’re ready to fit them to a vehicle again.

This is the first time I’ve seen the Department specifically ask for feedback on customer-held storage, so if this is something you’ve ever wanted, now is the time to let them know.

Whether you support customer-held storage or prefer the current system, this is a genuine opportunity to have your say before any decisions are made.
