Another BT50/Ranger 3.2L tuned and a very happy owner, Alex bought the car as a work in progress, the head had just recently been done but there were still some issues. The coolant was frothy and it tended to use a little, the first thing we suggested was for Alex to disconnect the EGR (bypass the coolant hoses) Alex being very handy on the tools performed the bypass and it appeared better better but not fixed. The final fix that Alex performed was bought about by a picture he found that showed the coolant hoses into the head and they were on the wrong way around. Once they were were reversed the car performed flawlessly. moral of the story.. faults in cars are usually self made so always double check any work that has been done for faults. The tune on Alex's car provided an extra 45BHP and an extra 90nm with better throttle response and less lag. another happy BT50 owner

I have just received a text and photo that I thought I would share with you. The owner of this very nice late model 2017 BT50 decided that more power was in order for towing his caravan and boat, once he called were quickly on our way and provided a bespoke tune for his car taking into account the max 3000kg load he will be pulling, the tune provides minimal EGT increases and impressive torque/HP increases the owners txt read in part "car went great wife told me to slow the F>>k down lol, could not feel the boat on behind me" it is so good to receive txts like these, they really make my day.. A 2018 LDV T60 dual cab came in with a major water leak and running rough, after some quick diagnostic work it was determined the rattle at idle was the addition of a chip/tuning box to the fuel rail and it had failed pushing the fuel rail pressures low at certain times (idle etc) removing the box immediately improved the idle noise and driveability.
The water leak was a failed EGR, so the egr cooler was by-passed and the egr adjusted in the ecu to cater for the increased heat of the egr gasses (reduced) we also tuned the ecu to increase power and torque with the added advantage of reduced lag with improved economy. the owner has noticed a dramatic improvement in driveability and is very impressed with the power. ECU cloning service, if you have a damaged ecu we can now clone your old unit to a used or replacement new ecu, this keeps all the security setting so the car will start as soon as the cloned ecu is fitted .. no need for security coding saves all the hassles of having to take the car to the dealer for programming and a quarter the cost! We can also add in a tune, egr/dpf/flaps or any other adjustment required.

The service is simple post both ecu's to us and label each one as original or replacement and we do the rest.
The cost is $495.00 for most cars.

Jeep Grand Cherokee's have a reputation for good fuel economy and great power from the A630 engine, this one has the 5 spd gearbox and is in good condition apart from a few issues, under boost errors, egr errors etc, on inspection it became apparent that the intake was badly fouled and the VNT notchy to the point where the actuator would stick and fail to provide the required boost. the fix was to clean the intake and also get some cleaning action happening on the VNT vanes, there are a number of products available for this purpose so we felt this was worth a try but the vanes were so notchy we did not hold out much hope for a cure. Anyway we disconnected the intake hose to the manifold and ran the engine at 3000rpm whilst we sprayed the cleaner in, huge amounts of oil were sprayed out of the boost hose, luckily we had anticipated this and the boost hose was vented into a bucket. So this was another issue we had an intercooler flooded with oil from the crankcase a blocked open EGR and a stuck VNT. We have now fitted an effective catch can cleaned out the intercooler and hoses, blocked the egr and cleaned the VNT (without removing the turbo) we also uploaded a a tune that should provide an extra 120nm and 50kw, whilst remapping the EGR. The effects were immediate the errors for the VNT were gone the power was amazing, scrabbling for traction on bitumen and squirming all over the road from the extra torque. The VNT clean was short lived and the error came back very soon after the repair work (300K) The next step which is booked in will be removing the turbo and cleaning the VNT properly or replacing the turbo if the seals are not holding. more to come as we get the issues sorted out. www.torqtech.com.au

This early 200 series presented with a number of issues, its low torque was eventually traced back to a damaged turbo actuator on the drivers side, this was not expected as the turbo's were only 2 years old, once we had the actuator off (yes it can be done in the car and no you don't have to remove the engine to do the job Toyota!!) we discovered stripped gears on the actuator and replaced it with a Goss item all back together in approx 8 hours and running again, then it was a straight forward OBD tune to suit the slightly larger turbo's, snorkel and exhaust system a huge +120nm of torque improvement and +40kw without putting any strain on the engine, after the tune a few more adjustments were made to reduce smoke on takeoff and one very happy owner who was staring down the barrel of a 10-12k bill , our bill $2600.00 all done.. don't get ripped off call TorqTech..

CLS Mercedes KTAG / KESSV3 these ECU's cannot be tuned using the obd port in most cases, so to facilitate the tune we needed to remove the cover and access the programming ports directly, this is bench tuning where we directly access the chips memory. In this instance we were also replacing the ecu as the original had a failed sensor on the right hand intake cam. this meant cloning the old ecu first, erasing the used ecu and then uploading the stock tune to the new ecu.

Once this is completed the ecu is tested to ensure the engine starts then its back to the bench for the tune install.

Mercedes Sprinter (Black Death) we had a Mercedes sprinter come in this week for a tune/service, it was apparent from the owners comments that there were some issues we needed to deal with, the owner was complaining about red eyes and irritated throat/smell in the car, we checked for leaks and found no fault, there was a very light ticking from the engine and that lead us to investigate further, on removal of the intake manifold and the plastic injector cover we found that all the injectors had been leaking and created the mess you see in the first photo, hard as concrete these deposits had to be chiselled off to even see the injectors, I had visions of breaking the plugs etc but to my relief we were able to get it all off, the injectors are still in the car and being soaked with a de-carbonizing fluid so we can pull them out to fit new copper washers between the head and the injector to stop the leaks. So a word of warning if you have a common rail diesel get your injector seals checked for leaks every 20,000k and save your self money and pain. Fitting new seals is easy until leaks are left unattended for long periods of time.

Another point worth noting, this vehicle had been serviced by Mercedes Benz its whole life... service history does not prove a vehicles condition..

Mercedes X-Class DPF EGR and performance tune.
Looked after a X-class tonight, the owner drives trucks for a living and knew what he needed in terms of power and torque, the larger tyres had sapped some of the power and economy so the requirement from Marko was to get the power back and make the car better to drive, we were able to increase torque by 82nm and power x 36bhp, a great result that made the car more driveable, better throttle response and overall, a better feel with the power coming on earlier with the spool being a lot quicker. the EGR and DPF adjustments will help keep the intake manifold and DPF clean Still waiting for comment from the owner and will post up when we have feedback. www.torqtech.com.au facebook.com/mrfourwd
