HOT ROD FRIDAY 🔥
Glen still hasn’t finished, or touched, his VL project, so this week we’ve got Russell’s 1987 Holden VL, “LOO5S”.
Built around 15 years ago, it started life as an old lady’s one-owner manual 6-cylinder car. Back then, VLs were cheap and easy to find. Not so much now. 🫣
These days, it’s fully tubbed, painted DNA Candy Pink, sitting on 20x12 Boyd Billet Dictators, and finished with VF HSV cream trim.
The pink wasn’t exactly the plan. After a big night on the p**s, the decision was made that it needed to stand out. Mission accomplished.
Russell’s favourite thing about it?
More go than you can poke a stick at. Stand on it and there’s power on tap. 💨💨💨
LOO5S has won a few comps over the years, but Summernats has mainly delivered fire, bent parts and character-building moments....
As for engines, ask Glen and Brenton how many it’s been through 😅 Apparently, it’s driver abuse. Russell calls it testing the limits....
This current combo has survived a few years now, ever since the boys convinced him to go dry sump.
Next up, it’s heading north with the Rod Shop crew for Supercars entertainment skids at Darwin, Townsville and Bathurst, plus Gazzanats and Northern Nats.
Future plans?
Put it in the shed and stop spending money on it.... Good luck with that.
