We would like to congratulate Nathan Johnson on successfully obtaining the Clermont Motors business name. We are so happy the name is going to continue with Nathan providing mobile mechanical repairs and hydraulic hoses. We are so proud of you Nathan and hope to see you soar.

We would like to thank Carolyn Franzman, Clermont Real Estate for selling Clermont Motors premises, 41- 45 Racecourse Rd.

And…. introduce new owner Hugh Fordyce and team of Dyce Energy. They are going to continue with a mechanical business hoping to build on what we started and grow the business. Hugh has great plans in motion. So please keep an eye on the Clermont Telegraph for announcements in the not-too-distant future.

The premises were first purchased by David’s Parents Marg and Bert in 1978 as a truck depot for DOLMA Transport. In 1979 they transitioned into a sand and gravel business. We purchased the property from David’s brothers after Bert passed away in 1999. We continued to run DOLMA Transport from the site. Following the sale of DOLMA Transport. In 2001 the mechanical business moved from behind our house to the premises. The small front shed was enclosed to make a workshop which was then transformed into an office and parts storage, now the main office and kitchen area. In 2002, the first half of the main workshop was built. In 2007 the second half of the workshop was completed with new parts and tool storage and an office to suit the growing business. After 47 years in the Marteene family, the site will be handed over to a new company with their own plans for the future.

While it is an emotional sale for us, we are so excited and happy for Hugh and his team. We wish them all the best and can’t wait to see their vision come to life.
We will be back from time to time and hope to catch up with you.

To all our clients acquaintances friends and foes
Whilst the time off was great, after returning to the workshop earlier this month, Tracey Stevie and I came down with covid and with more medical and surgical procedures in the near future, after many discussions we have come to the realisation that we do not have the energy, enthusiasm and health to continue running Clermont Motors to its full potential.
It has been you our loyal customers (some 2nd and 3rd generation) that have kept us going as we did not want to let you all down but the time has come that our health is our priority.

We have been holding on hoping someone young and eager would see the positives of owning and operating Clermont Motors and come forward with an offer and a breath of fresh air to continue the operation of the business.
But as this has not occurred as of the 31st of October we will no longer be taking bookings.

As we have a huge job organising the closure of the business, we envisage being at the workshop until at least mid/late December. We will continue parts sales during this time.

Qld Transport has a contract until
June 2025 for their heavy vehicle inspections. The closure of Clermont Motors will NOT impact this at all. In fact we will continue our AIS vehicle inspections also until June 2025the same weeks as TMR. Mine compliance and brakes tests will also be performed on these dates. Our dates are below.

As you receive you notices for AIS inspections 2 months prior to renewal I will email dates every month for you to book your inspections. If you are unsure of your renewal dates please go to Qld rego check which will have dates for COI expiry and Rego due date.

Clermont Motors Announcement

Dispelling rumours again Clermont Motors has NOT been sold/leased and neither have the premises.
Yes, we have had some interest in both the business and workshop, (with some genuine interest and some tyre kickers) but we have no signed contracts and no money in the bank. We are very motivated to sell if you or anyone you know may be interested, please email [email protected].

Yes, since the passing of Chris we have been contemplating our future as individuals and a family and the future of Clermont Motors.

This past week David has had multiple doctor’s appointments. He will be spending a week in May in Townsville hospital for medication changes and DBS adjustments. This will be done as an impatient so his specialist can manage any changes required for the best outcome. In June he will also be having shoulder surgery. This will require between 6 to 12 weeks recovery time.

The advice from his specialist at this week’s appointment is for David to cease such physical and mentally draining work. Therefore, we will not be taking any further bookings for him to perform. He will continue to assist and mentor Nathan until his shoulder surgery in June. After this time we will not be taking any further bookings. Tracey, Nathan and casual mechanics will continue to manage and run the business during this time. Nathan will continue under the guidance of David until the end of July to finalise all outstanding jobs. All bookings in July will also be completed.

As of 31st of July to 29th of September Clermont Motors will be closed. Nathan will be at tafe, and David and Tracey will take this time to heal medically, travel and rest. This decision has not been made lightly but family and health are our priority at this time.

Department of Transport will be conducting their inspections on the following dates – 13th-14th June, 25th-26th July, 15th-16th August and 19th-20th September.
The last dates available for David to perform COIs will be 15th-16th June so any defects can be cleared 29th -30th June. David will be unable to carry out any inspections in July and August due to recovery from shoulder surgery. September dates for COIs will be 18th and 21st.

Rather than have the rumour mill going into overdrive we have communicated this directly as we appreciate your support and concern. During this time, we will be monitoring David’s health and taking into consideration advice from Drs. We will update you all by end of September of our decision on opening date.

We are requesting all customers with overdue invoices to have these paid by COB 16th of June to avoid the debt being transferred to the collection agency. All other invoices normal trading terms.
