After another successful test event with the new engine we’re calling it finished. That was the BMW E82 last event before it’s off to Japan. In just a couple of weeks, we’ll hand the keys to Shane Bingham and next stop, the real Matsuri 🇯🇵

Nissan S15 X Emu Classic X SR20 ✨

Built a tidy little S15 harness this week, for a tidy blue 15 with (interestingly) an early SR20 from an S13. Paired with an Ecumaster EMU Classic on their new V3 firmware, for a really cost effective package.

This car had a LIFE before the current owner, so I spent a few extra hours undoing the wrongs of the past, fixing the headlight wiring, and making the 5 speed SR gearbox talk to the ECU and reverse lights. Fiddly stuff, but at least this one had nicely vacuumed floor mats to sniff while I was under the dash.

Turned out great, and should make an awesome street car once she’s tuned! 🤙

Built a fresh 1.5JZ for the BMW last week, and we’re ready for testing at Fast Festival this weekend!!! (Full dyno pull at the end)

Huge thankyou to James for the beautiful work on our vvti cyl head, Jack for the virgin 2J bottom end parts and to Waterhouse Performance for the dyno hire.

Battled some serious knock/detonation issues with the 98 fuel on this one. No wonder I blew up the last 1J! Learned a lot re-tuning this - with the 98 really exposing my experience levels. E85 makes it so easy!! Worked hard, spent a ton of time on it, and I’m certain this is the best tune I’ve done yet ✨

Ok ok - fine! Here’s a template for all you guys with GT86’s, BRZ’s and FRS’s who want to run cool wheels and don’t want to pay $1k for new hubs. 5x100 to 5x114.3, 56.1mm Centre Bore, 60° conical seats for perfect alignment on the drill press.

Drill your stock ones - be happy. (Don’t say I didn’t warn you it’s a crappy job though)

Borrowed .marinceski’s S14 for a few laps over the weekend and ohhhh myyyy god 🥰 THIS is the dream setup. I drove it when I dyno’d it a year ago for the 8hp swap, but since then Jono’s gone 1.5J and a heap of other stuff. I’m so proud of how this car has leveled up in the past couple years, and I’m stoked to have played a part in it ✨

Driving this really scratched the 8HP itch, now it’s all i want in my next S chassis 😏

We’re back in Japan this week for Spring Matsuri!

Was so good to pull up and see the ol’ faithful JZX90 sitting in the bushes, and it started with about half a rotation on the key. So good.

Day 1 spent installing some new parts and giving it a once over, and tomorrow - puts in bulk laps before G1GP ✨

Can’t wait to show you all the Tanoshi spec refresh we gave it 🤣 🇮🇪

Starting a fun little project today (yes, the day before we leave for Japan 🤣) swapping this HKS supercharged GT86 to the engine it should have had in the first place, a 1JZ VVTi ✨

1JZ update 😅

Rather than be sad about this one, I’m genuinely impressed at what this engine went through for the past 3 years. We swapped it in garage the night before Matsuri, I bounced it off limiter for an enitre lap of Luddenham. I loaned it to .marinceski for halfway hangs.

It did over a thousand laps in three cars, and in the end, some idiot tuner (me) got too spicy with the timing and did something silly with the safeties. I killed it, but hey, the more you know 🤷‍♂️ (and this is why you experiment on your own s**t!)

Ty for your service 1J, may you live on with fresh 2J bottom end 😏

Today we moved out of the OG Car Shop Tanoshi... 5 years, a few good doggo’s, countless cars and a bunch of friends. We’ll remember this little garage as the one that started it all. Thanks to everyone who was part of it!

Can’t wait to show you all the new place 🥰 it’ll truly change Car Shop Tanoshi into what we’ve always wanted 🚗💨
