Congratulations to Paul Preusker and connections winning today's Great New Zealand Steeplechase over 6200m at Te Aroha with Christmas. A lovely patient ride by Darryl Horner Jnr seen the gelding back at the rear of the field before slowly getting into the race and win running away at the finish.

On a day we farewelled Club Manager John Donnelly, local trainers Kaye Edwards and Garry Phillips took out the final two races of today's meeting to wrap up another successful season for the club.

Edwards actually won the Thanks JD 0-56 Handicap over 1400 with Alcoshare, while Phillips and Octahedron were convincing winners of the Bet365 Bet Boost 0-56 Handicap over 2000m.

Tom Madden and Chelsea Thompson were the respective winning jockeys.

On a lovely winter's day the winners were spread evenly among trainers and jockeys on the seven race program.

Tomorrow morning the club will stage eight jumpouts commencing at 9am.
