This is what it looks like when a workshop who supposedly knows what they are doing misses and not by a little bit.

This customer came to us after finding large chunks of metal in their oil and a lack of oil pressure after this other shop had done a camshaft package on this 6L.

After pulling the motor out and assessing the damage we found one of the camshaft bearings to be barely installed correctly to the point that one of the lifters was grinding away at the bearing.

not only that the camshaft was installed dry and it was a whole tooth out even though they marked the Timing set with a paint pen.

But thankfully the oil filter did its job and there wasn't any other damage present

So we cleaned all of the remaining bearing out of the block, replaced the Camshaft bearings (and installed them correctly), Timed the camshaft properly, put it all back together how it should be and went for a retune.

all in all this could have turned into a nightmare and destroyed this engine completely but thankfully it was caught early and it could be fixed properly.

with the storm that hit Carrum Downs yesterday afternoon we have lost power and unfortunately they don't believe it will be reconnected till Friday afternoon. Hopefully it will be back on sooner.
