And just like that… we're back!

After plenty of kilometres, red dirt, bitumen, gravel roads and some seriously impressive Queensland scenery, the Ranger Super Duty and Gen2 Canopy Service Body are back at Duratray.

Over the past couple of weeks we've travelled through some amazing parts of outback Queensland, putting the vehicle and canopy through plenty of real-world conditions along the way.

It's been great to share a little bit of the journey with you — from the roads and landscapes to some of the towns and places we passed through.

A big thank you to everyone who has watched, commented and followed along. We hope you've enjoyed seeing a bit of the Queensland outback from behind the wheel as much as we enjoyed the trip.

Now it's time to unpack the ute, clean off the dust and get back to work!

Chinchilla

On the road back towards Brisbane and making our way through Chinchilla.
There’s more to this part of Queensland than meets the eye.
Chinchilla is probably best known as the “Melon Capital of Australia”, producing around a quarter of the country’s melons. The town even has its own biennial Melon Festival, which started back in 1994 during a drought as a way of lifting the spirits of the local community.
But there’s some pretty interesting history here too.

The Chinchilla area is well known for its petrified wood, including the famous “Chinchilla Red”. Some of it dates back to the Jurassic period, around 140–180 million years ago.

Our Ranger Super Duty and Gen2 Canopy Service Body have certainly covered some country on this trip. Now we're pointing the wheels towards Brisbane and heading home.
Plenty of kilometres still to go!

You never quite know what you’re going to find when travelling through the Australian outback.

From incredible sculptures made from old machinery and scrap, to the characters and stories behind them, there’s a real sense of ingenuity and creativity in these country towns. Another little reminder of just how much there is to see when you get off the beaten track.

Roma

There’s something pretty special about travelling through country Queensland.

Roma is one of those places where you really get a feel for how much of Australia’s industry happens out here — from the oilfields to the cattle trucks, there’s plenty of hard work happening behind the scenes.

Big country, big distances and some seriously impressive machinery. This is the Australia we love getting out and exploring.

Quilpie

Out in Quilpie, the scenery is pretty spectacular — but it’s also a good reminder of the conditions vehicles and equipment have to deal with across regional Australia.

Red dirt, dust, corrugations and plenty of kilometres are all part of the job. This Ford Ranger Super Duty, fitted with our Gen2 canopy, is right at home out here. There’s something pretty satisfying about seeing these vehicles out doing what they were built to do.

Barcoo River

Rising from the slopes of the Warrego Range and flowing towards Lake Eyre, the Barcoo River forms a boundary between "Outback" and the "Far Outback" of Australia.

Outback Gravel Highway

How good does this backdrop look against the red dirt? Australia really does have some incredible landscapes.

As beautiful as the outback is, the red dust out here is relentless. It'll find its way into every gap possible. High-quality door seals are an absolute must out here!
