Had an absolute blast working on this classic RX3, a car with more stories than your favorite uncle! What was supposed to be a straightforward front-end upgrade turned into a treasure hunt for parts. First up, we discovered Mazda must have played a game of "let's switch things up" with steering boxes in the '70s. The one on this beauty? Rare as a unicorn. The pitman arm was a goner, and guess what? Not a replacement to be found anywhere on the planet. So, we had to rebuild the old one—now it's as good as new, but it took so long it almost wasn't worth it!
And then there’s the lower control arm, which seems to have gone rogue. It's definitely not RX3 original; after plenty of trial and error, we figured out it's from a late '70s Mazda 626. Looks like someone in the past wanted more negative camber and went with this longer control arm swap. Hey, whatever works, right?
Anyway, with new coilovers and big brakes, this RX3 is going to handle like a dream and stop on a dime—at least in the front end! Now just waiting on a few more parts, and then I'll drop some final pics. Stay tuned!
