1️⃣. Western District Cricket Club - The Western District Cricket Club is a community cricket club based in Belconnen, welcoming players of all ages through our junior and senior programs. During the 2025/26 season, we proudly supported more than 300 junior players and 120 senior players, making us one of Canberra's largest and most active cricket clubs.
A $500 grant would help to replace aging equipment (such as balls, nets, catching ramps) and minor maintenance work to our training infrastructure at Aranda and Kaleen Ovals.
2️⃣. HeartKids Ltd- HeartKids is Australia's leading charity dedicated to supporting children, teenagers, and adults living with childhood-onset heart disease (CoHD), along with the families who care for them. Every day, eight babies are born with CoHD in Australia, while many other children develop heart conditions later due to illness or injury. Today, more than 250,000 Australians are affected by childhood-onset heart disease.
A grant from Gerald Slaven's Community First Program would enable the ACT team to continue providing inclusive, evidence-based support services that strengthen wellbeing, foster connection, and reduce the sense of isolation experienced by families affected by CoHD across the Canberra region.
3️⃣. HOME in Queanbeyan - HOME in Queanbeyan provides secure, long-term accommodation for 20 residents living with enduring mental illness who may otherwise be at risk of homelessness. Each resident has their own self-contained unit, offering the privacy and independence of home within a warm, supportive, and non-institutional environment.
A shared lunch is prepared by dedicated volunteers each day, giving residents the opportunity to come together, enjoy a nutritious meal, build friendships, and strengthen their sense of community.
If awarded this donation, the funding would go directly towards providing daily meals for our residents, helping us continue to offer a welcoming space where everyone feels cared for and connected.
