What a weekend!
On behalf of TIGO'S Towing, I want to say how incredibly proud we are to be the Naming Sponsor of NQ Burnouts Round 1, 2 & 3.
A huge thank you to Mayor Amy Eden for your support and for proudly riding with us throughout the event. Your commitment to local events and our community is greatly appreciated. It was great to see you jump in the car with a younger version of myself— Preston Harris, better known as "WHO DAT"—one of North Queensland's most respected rev heads who certainly knows how to steer the wheels off a car! Also seeing you on the back of our Tow Truck was just the cream on top.
To our incredible committee, our amazing volunteers, and especially Helen Robson and Steve Robson, thank you for the countless hours you've dedicated behind the scenes. Events like this simply wouldn't be possible without your commitment, passion, and hard work.
A massive shout-out to the man behind all of NQ Burnouts' social media—the man, the myth, the legend, Aaron Chalkley from AUDOIN Motorsports. The countless hours you put in behind the scenes often go unnoticed, but they never go unappreciated. From promoting our events to keeping everyone updated before, during, and after each round, your dedication and hard work play a huge part in the success of NQ Burnouts. You're not only my right-hand man but also a great mate, and I'm grateful for everything you do.
A special thank you to Andrea and Ashleigh Barnard our Treasurer and Secretary. You are both part of an incredibly passionate motorsport family who are always willing to lend a hand. Your dedication and commitment to the sport are an inspiration and a true credit to women in the burnout and motorsport community.
Personally, I've been involved with the burnout committee since the very beginning. One of the original founders of burnouts at the Edmonton Complex, Loz Sultana, played a huge role in my journey. After transporting his burnout car for several years, he taught me so much about the sport—from how events are run to the finer points of judging competitions. His experience from travelling to major burnout events across Australia has been invaluable, and I'm proud to call him both a mentor and a close friend.
Over the past six years, I've had the privilege of serving two terms as President and one year as Vice President. During my time as Vice President, in the middle of COVID, I created Skids for Santa in 2021—an event that continues to give back to our North Queensland community.
To now stand here as both the President of NQ Burnouts and the Naming Sponsor through TIGO'S Towing is something I'm incredibly proud of.
I'd also like to personally thank my fiancée and business partner, Chloé Goodyear. Behind every successful event is someone working tirelessly behind the scenes, and Chloe has been exactly that. While keeping the books running for our family business, she dedicated countless hours of her own time securing sponsors for all three rounds. With only three weeks to bring sponsors on board, she worked relentlessly to help make these events possible. Your love, support, determination, and belief in what we're building have been my rock throughout this journey, and I simply couldn't have done it without you.
After eight months of planning, meetings, setbacks, challenges, and plenty of hard work, seeing Saturday's event run so smoothly made every obstacle worthwhile. I couldn't be prouder of what our committee, volunteers, competitors, sponsors, supporters, and everyone involved achieved together.
Saturday was a testament to what can be accomplished when a community comes together with a shared vision. Thank you to everyone who attended, competed, volunteered, sponsored, and supported Round 1. You all played a part in making it a huge success.
From all of us at TIGO'S Towing and NQ Burnouts—thank you for believing in what we're building. This is only the beginning, and we can't wait to keep the momentum rolling.
