🦖🌊 Happy Global Dinosaur Day! 🌊🦖
Today we’re celebrating the ancient ocean creatures that have outlived the dinosaurs and continue to swim among us!
🐟 Coelacanth – Thought extinct until 1938, this “living fossil” dates back 360 million years and can live over 60 years!
🐍 Lamprey – Parasitic and ancient, this jawless fish has survived 360 million years and could hold clues to healing spinal injuries.
🦀 Horseshoe Crab – Not a crab at all, but are related to scorpions, spiders and ticks! These hardy survivors date back 450 million years and have 10 eyes!
🐚 Nautilus – Once rulers of the ancient seas 500 million years ago, these spiraled mollusks are living relics of Earth’s early oceans.
🌊 Sea Jellies – Ghostly and graceful, jellyfish have drifted through our oceans for at least 500 million years—maybe even longer.
🐋 Pygmy Right Whale – Rare and mysterious, this elusive whale species emerged 17–25 million years ago.
🦈 Frilled Shark – With its eel-like body and 80-million-year legacy, this deep-sea dweller is truly prehistoric.
These incredible creatures remind us that the ocean is a living time capsule. Let's protect these ancient survivors for future generations to admire. 💙
