๐ฆ๐ Happy Global Dinosaur Day! ๐๐ฆ
Today weโre celebrating the ancient ocean creatures that have outlived the dinosaurs and continue to swim among us!
๐ Coelacanth โ Thought extinct until 1938, this โliving fossilโ dates back 360 million years and can live over 60 years!
๐ Lamprey โ Parasitic and ancient, this jawless fish has survived 360 million years and could hold clues to healing spinal injuries.
๐ฆ Horseshoe Crab โ Not a crab at all, but are related to scorpions, spiders and ticks! These hardy survivors date back 450 million years and have 10 eyes!
๐ Nautilus โ Once rulers of the ancient seas 500 million years ago, these spiraled mollusks are living relics of Earthโs early oceans.
๐ Sea Jellies โ Ghostly and graceful, jellyfish have drifted through our oceans for at least 500 million yearsโmaybe even longer.
๐ Pygmy Right Whale โ Rare and mysterious, this elusive whale species emerged 17โ25 million years ago.
๐ฆ Frilled Shark โ With its eel-like body and 80-million-year legacy, this deep-sea dweller is truly prehistoric.
These incredible creatures remind us that the ocean is a living time capsule. Let's protect these ancient survivors for future generations to admire. ๐
