Had a brilliant catch-up with Ray Mountney from Muirs in Busselton this week. Ray has been part of the fabric of this community for decades and the conversation was a reminder of why I love this region.
We covered a lot of ground. EVs and where the automotive industry is actually heading. The very real shift in workforce expectations and what that means for business owners trying to attract and retain good people. Youth employment and why we need to be more intentional about creating pathways for young people here in the South West.
But the thread running through all of it was this: the businesses that know their community, invest in it, and show up for it over the long haul are the ones still standing when everything else shifts.
Shopping local is not just a feel-good slogan. It is what keeps businesses like Muirs viable, and it is what keeps towns like ours alive.
Thanks Ray, great conversation. Looking forward to working together to keep Busselton thriving.
