Monster Ignition Monster Ignition specialises in MSD Pro Mag 12amp Magneto and Points Box servicing and repairs.

With over 30 years race engine experience and always trying to do as much as possible in house we always worked on our own ignition systems. We have a Vane Distributor machine that can spin a complete Pro Mag 12LT ignition system well past 8,000 engine rpm. We can also test magneto generator output and also voltage at the coil and spark plug and miliseconds of burn time.

Brad James from JRE Racing Solutions sent us a 12LT that wouldn't let the engine start on the dyno.
Tested the generator amperage and magnetic pick up voltage outputs and tested ok. The pick up coil resistance tested fine. Connected a Points Box and found no spark until approximately 1,200rpm and also had high speed misfires. Ended up testing the lower housing with the magnetic pick up and found the voltage output to almost be nothing until it gained a higher speed. Fitted a new magnetic pick up and adjusted for a stronger signal which gives a stronger spark for starting and taking off from idle. Serviced the generator and got it back to Brad to finish tuning on the dyno.

Another 12LT Magneto done and on its way to KRE Race Engines for Ashley Cook. Gained nearly a amp in output from machining and blueprinting.

Next in the technical series is the Magnetic Pick Up. Have replaced quite a few in the last 12 months.

Now the Australian season is over , it's good to look back at the year. Corey Day's performances in Perth are a stand out. And he was using the Points Box that officials deemed to be faulty. The Super Rods ventured last weekend to Swan Hill's Sonic Speedway for two nights of racing. Michael Coad dominated the weekend. He won the Saturday night A main and had the Sunday night in the bag until a broken fuel fitting ended his race. Shaun Walsh broke the track's 1 lap record for the Super Rods , lowering it by 0.064. Proud to be associated and helping you guys with your ignition system requirements.
