WHAT IS PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL/REPAIR

Paintless Dent Removal (PDR), is a process for removing most minor, and even some major dents, without repainting the vehicle and removing the factory finish. This is done by slowly massaging the dent from the back of the panel with specialised tools and lighting equipment. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS

• When the repair is carried out by an experienced technician,

it is the closest you can come to the damage never having happened in the first place, with both the metal and the paint being returned to pre-accident condition. Because the original factory finish is preserved, there is no need for grinding the paint off, and filling the dent with primers, and sealers that are needed with conventional body repairs.

• Since the original factory paint is preserved when using the PDR method, problems with colour matching do not occur. It is virtually impossible for a panel shop to obtain a perfect paint match due to differences in factory materials and techniques. PDR is the only way to repair dents and still keep the factory paint on your vehicle.

• PDR is by far, the preferred method of repair for hail damage by insurance companies due to speed in which an insured vehicle can be repaired and the low cost in comparison to the vehicle being conventionally repaired.

• Given the relatively small size of the instruments that are used in the PDR process, repairs can often take place at your home or your place of work which means that there is no need to leave your car at the shop and make alternative transportation arrangements. Best of all, minor repairs can be completed in a matter of hours or sometimes less.

• With almost no need for paints or solvents, paintless dent removal does not lead to the release of toxic chemicals into the environment. LIMITATIONS

• it is important to note that this repair technique may not be effective in all instances. The severity and the location of the damage will play a major role in determining the type of repair method that should be used. Deep gouges, stretched metal and dents that are located near the panel edge or the seam are not likely to respond to many of the strategies that paintless dent removal technicians are likely to use.

• Paintless dent removal does not address issues like scratches or paint chips and in such cases, respraying or touch-ups will be required. IN SUMMARY
