Towing a trailer can be dangerous with a safe trailer,
let alone a trailer that is in an unsafe condition.

For NSW your trailer is safety inspected once a year, sadly this inspection does not last the whole year as the inspector can only really inspect the trailer "fit and safe for road use" on that day at that moment,

What does this mean?

Anything can happen to the trailer within the 12-month period causing the trailer to be unsafe.

For ACT you just pay for the rego which means that YOU are stating that your trailer is safe for road use.

We are asked all the time, and it's a fair question " how often do I service my trailer" the answer however is not that simple.

1. How often you use the trailer, daily, weekly
2. How often you don't use the trailer, monthly yearly
3. How much load is on the trailer, over loading, to full load
4. The road conditions, dirt, rocks, gravel, country roads, city roads
5. How far you travel

No matter how small or big your trailer is the trailer has a lot of moving parts, bearings, Tyres and suspension. moving parts need to move within the specifications of the parts which means what weight and how you load your trailer.

There is a lot of safety checks that you can do every time you hook your trailer up and you are already doing without knowing

Below are items that you can have a look at

1. Trailer brakes: test that they are working
2. Tyre air pressure: inflate to manufactures specification (which is found on the side wall of your Tyre)
3. Wheel nuts: tighten to proper torque specifications (as we say you cannot have loose nuts)
4. Wheel rims: Inspect for dents, damage or out of round
5. Trailer lights: plug in and test

Below you may need us for

6. Brake adjustment: de-dust inspect for lining wear and adjust
7. Wheel bearings and cups: inspect for wear or damage and check bearing grease
8. Hub/ drum: inspect for heavy scoring or wear
9. seals inspect for lining wear and contamination
10. Part brake: inspect for excessive travel/ movement and adjust

All too much ....... ? You are in luck
