Friends, Iβm asking for your support.
On Monday 8 June at 5:30pm, a public meeting will be held at the Bunbury Council Chambers regarding Bunnings' proposed relocation to land at East Dalyellup that is currently zoned urban development for future residential use.
If approved, this development would remove approximately 100 potential residential lots at a time when we all recognise there is a significant shortage of housing and residential land.
It is concerning that a major company can bypass the local council process and seek rezoning directly through the State Government for commercial purposes.
Governments continue to promise more residential land to help keep housing affordable for younger generations, our children and grandchildren.
This proposal appears to move in the opposite direction.
In addition, the proposed development is located directly alongside existing residential homes and an over-55s retirement village.
The development is expected to generate more than 57 truck movements per day, which would have a significant impact on local residents and amenity.
There are also concerns about the effect this relocation could have on Blair Street traders and the Bunbury CBD, with reduced traffic flow potentially impacting local businesses and our city centre.
We cannot afford to sit back and do nothing. We need to show up in numbers and make our voices heard.
The meeting is expected to run for approximately one hour. Please let me know if you can attend and support this cause. If you are concerned about this proposal, please share this message with others.
Regards,
Eddy Gobby
