I have seen neglected engines before, but this one is definitely up there.

The amount of sludge throughout the cylinder head tells the whole story. This engine has likely gone a very long time without proper oil changes. At this point, you’re no longer dealing with normal maintenance—you’re dealing with years of accumulated deposits that restrict oil flow and accelerate wear.

This is exactly why I keep telling people:

❌ There is no such thing as lifetime engine oil.
❌ There is no such thing as lifetime transmission fluid.

Fluids are consumables. They break down, lose their protective properties, and eventually stop doing the job they were designed to do.

Changing your oil on time costs a fraction of what major engine repairs cost.

What was supposed to be a straightforward timing chain job just turned into a much bigger project. 😅

Maintain your car before it forces you to. Your engine will thank you.”

Ford ranger in for some gearbox work. Removal of the wax pellet intern allows full flow threw the oil cooler from start up. Removal of the factory transmission cooler and replacing it with a large alloy front mount unit. Should drop gearbox temps by a minimum of 20°c
