What a result!
A lot of good people put in a lot of effort so that we could swan around a mountain last weekend.

Before we even got to Bathurst a lot of work went into making the car pretty, square and reliable. Massive thanks to Matthew Wildridge and Wildridge for the huge task of repairing last years carnage and getting her looking pretty again. Dave Allan from DJA Mechanical went above and beyond and put in a bunch of hours to get her mechanically reliable for Bathurst. Then doing a 24 hour mercy dash to Sydney and back on Friday to get a new gearbox in. Locky Donohue from Bromspec Motor Works waved his magic wand over the electrics and Ward from Wardsport got her pointing in the right direction again. Christy Mc tolerated me in the lead up whilst providing financial and moral support before taking on the huge role of team manager both before and during the weekend. Everyone in the piccy bought in, did what was asked of them and more and gave up their Easter weekend for us. So thankful and appreciative of their efforts. ‘Luvs yas all.’
To break the Japanese monopoly of class D was pretty cool and even more satisfying after the disappointment of last year through no fault of our own and errors from other drivers who should have known better. All drivers performed above expectation and kept our nose clean. Special thanks to Mik Hazelton for his driving skills and coaching keeping us all doing our best. Thanks red mustang for the Liberace and overtake under a safety car.
The weekend was filled with drinks, laughs and great food. Big thanks to Mik’s dad Laurie for keeping us fed and caffeinated.
Just before Bathurst last year we lost a great mate and valued team member Lawrence. This one’s for you mate.
Game on!!!

CHAMPION QUOTEBOARD: MEGUIAR'S APC OUTRIGHT AND CLASS X CHAMPIONS, AND FINAL ROUND WINNERS - #118 DA CAMPBELL TRANSPORT BMW M2

Dean Campbell

“It has been a very successful year and to come back from the last couple of years which have had some pretty tough luck and finally crack it here has been very pleasurable. It has been a good year; the guys have been good to race against – it would have been nice to finish the weekend with a last win in that last race but Grant was too good.

“We will come back next year and fight for it again! The whole team deserve this result, they are the ones putting in the hard work behind the scenes. Thank you also to our sponsors Inland Petroleum, Bathurst Auto Glass, Dawson’s Removals, Farra Civil, Jacs Driver Training, Central West Bricks, and also thank you to Matt Cook, Matt Worsley, and Cameron Crick.”

Cameron Crick

“It is good (to win the title and the event). Obviously a big part of this is Dean, he invests a lot into it and has been a big sponsor of mine for many years now, so to be able to help him seal the championship has been awesome.

“It has been a really good year, the car straight out of the box that Cam and Colin Hill built was awesome and the two Matts working for us have done an incredible job across the year and we have made a lot of gains with the car.

“And to see Dean’s improvement also from a driving point of view has been the biggest positive for me – he is a good mate of mine now and he had quite a big accident here this time last year in the Evo and it has taken a while to build his confidence back up, but I know he is a good driver and has it in him, but this track can be very daunting so I am stoked for him. He has definitely lifted a level this year and deserves all this success for sure.

“Thank you to our sponsors, and also for me personally I would like to thank Dean for handing me the keys to his race cars for the last three years now while also being a sponsor of mine with my other racing – it is awesome to have him now as a close mate and it is awesome to race with him.”
