When we first hit the open market in early 2023, we were seeing between 30 and 100 website visits a day. Today we are averaging over 2,000.

Since launching our new website and SmartPoint on 4 February, we have recorded 53,000 visits in just 25 days.

Apartment EV charging is no longer a future issue. It is now appearing on the agendas of many strata Annual General Meetings.

Strata committees, residents and building managers are actively looking for practical unlocked solutions that work within existing infrastructure.

The total market size for SmartPoint by 2030 including all relevant classes of buildings

Yesterday we looked at apartments. Today lets look at the complete picture across all building types where SmartPoint satisfies the National Construction Code 2022 requirements under J9D4.

Class 2: Apartments

Australia has around 368,000 strata buildings. By 2030, with NSW and Victoria targeting 50% of new car sales to be electric, we estimate 700,000 to 1 million apartment parking bays will need charging.

Hardware sales: $350M to $500M
Annual CPO revenue: $160M to $228M

Class 5 to 9: Commercial, Retail, Industrial and Public Buildings

Australia's non-residential building stock includes 1.06 million buildings.

Breaking down the parking:
- Offices (Class 5): 600,000 to 1 million bays
- Retail (Class 6): 1.7 million to 3.5 million bays
- Public car parks (Class 7): 153,000+ bays in CBDs alone
- Warehouses and industrial (Class 8): Additional parking across industrial estates
- Healthcare, schools, civic buildings (Class 9): Significant parking for staff and visitors

Conservative scenario: if just 15% of non-residential bays need charging by 2030, that's approximately 600,000 sockets.

Hardware sales: $298M
Annual CPO revenue: $136M

The combined 2030 market:

Total hardware sales: $648M to $798M
Total annual CPO revenue: $296M to $364M
Total addressable market: 1.3M to 1.6M sockets

This is Australian manufacturing at scale. Every SmartPoint supports NHP, Alchemy Charge, your chosen CPO, local component suppliers, distributors, electricians, and logistics networks across Australia.

SmartPoint was built for this: unlocked, OCPP based, one socket in every bay, working within limited electrical capacity without locking owners into a single network.

The scale of apartment EV charging that's coming and the impact for Australian made, $500 million in sales and $228 million in annual revenue.

Australia has around 368,000 strata buildings, representing over 3.2 million apartment parking bays. By 2030, that's expected to grow to around 3.5 million parking bays across close to 400,000 strata buildings.

Now overlay government direction. NSW and Victoria are working toward 50% of all new car sales being electric by 2030. That's the planning assumption governments are using.

If that happens, 700,000 to 1 million apartment parking bays will need EV charging by 2030 for everyday residential charging where cars are parked for long periods.

The Australian made impact

At $499 per SmartPoint, that's $350 million to $500 million in Australian manufacturing, contributing $32 million to $45 million in GST to Federal Government revenue from charge point operators selling our SmartPoint.

But the economic impact goes much further. Every SmartPoint sold supports the NHP manufacturing workforce, local component suppliers, distributors, electricians installing the units, logistics partners, and point-to-point delivery networks across Australia.

The ongoing CPO revenue

At $19 (on average) per socket per month in network fees, that creates $160 million to $228 million in annual recurring revenue for Charge Point Operators. This supports local CPOs, customer service teams, payment processing, and ongoing network operations.

This is Australian jobs, Australian expertise, and Australian industry at scale.

SmartPoint was built specifically for this problem. Unlocked, OCPP based, one in every parking spot that works within the building's limited electrical capacity.

This isn't about installing chargers. It's about enabling EV adoption across millions of Australian apartment parking bays while keeping the economic benefits in Australia.

Day 10: Australia's only SmartPoint that can roam between networks, one SmartPoint, multiple networks with access to over 5 million EasyPark users

SmartPoint is built on open standards (OCPP), which means it can roam between networks if your chosen charge point operator has roaming enabled. The hardware isn't tied to a single app or closed platform, similar to a mobile phone.

Through integration with EasyPark and Alchemy Charge, SmartPoint can be accessed by more than 5 million users across Australia when used on the Alchemy Charge network.

What this means for hosts

You are not locked into one network. The hardware doesn't need to be replaced to change networks, and users don't need a new app for every charger. SmartPoint remains independent while allowing access across multiple networks.

Why open standards matter

Open standards allow SmartPoint to scale without locking in the asset. As the EV charging landscape evolves, your infrastructure evolves with it.

SmartPoint is made in Australia for Australian conditions.

Day 8: SmartPoint uses 1 watt and why it matters

Some smart power outlets use around 3 watts of standby power. SmartPoint uses about 1 watt.

That sounds tiny, but EV charging hardware runs 24/7, so those small numbers add up fast.

In a typical apartment building or car park with 300 SmartPoints, standby power uses about 7 kWh per day, even when no cars are charging. Other charging solutions that use 3 watts for example, for the same building would use three times more energy doing nothing or 21 kWh a day or $1522 pa at 30 cents a kWh.

Now think bigger. Across Australia there are millions of parking spaces. A difference of just 2 watts per socket adds up to enough electricity to power nearly 9,000 homes every year, without a single vehicle charging.

Small numbers matter when you multiply them. Standby power is one of those hidden costs that most people never think about.

Efficiency was a non negotiable when designing SmartPoint, because minimising waste at scale makes a real difference.

SmartPoint is designed to use less, waste less, and cost less over time.

AEVA Electric Vehicle Rally, 10th of March in Sydney

🎉 You do not need to own an electric vehicle to be part of this. Rent an EV for the day and join us. 🎉

Alchemy Charge will be joining the AEVA Electric Vehicle Rally, and this event is genuinely open to everyone.

If you do not already drive electric, you can still take part by renting an EV for the day. There are plenty of easy options available, including Turo, evee, SIXT Australia, Avis Budget Group, Europcar and Redspot Car Rentals.

The day begins with breakfast at Sydney Motorsport Park, followed by a scenic drive west through the Blue Mountains to the Hydro Majestic Hotel for lunch and an epic group photo opportunity. From there, the rally continues along Bells Line through Bilpin, Kurrajong and Richmond, finishing in North Sydney.

This rally is designed for people who already drive electric, people who are EV curious, and people who want to experience electric driving in the real world before committing to ownership.

The event is hosted by the Australian Electric Vehicle Association as part of Climate Action Week Sydney.
