MY FIRST CERAMIC COATING JOB! 🥹
On 20 October 2017, I ceramic coated a car for the very first time.
I didn’t know it then, but this was the day Detail AutoHaus was born.
My obsession with detailing began after watching Autoshine.detailing on Instagram, working on some of the craziest cars in Sydney.
At the time, I owned an E46 M3. I had no idea how to properly detail it, so I paid $1,800—which was a lot of money in 2017—to have absolutely everything done.
Every day, I’d watch the Instagram stories showing little snippets of my M3 transforming. When I finally picked it up… man, it looked incredible.
After it was coated in CQuartz Finest Reserve, I became completely obsessed. I watched every video I could find from Apex Detail, Pan The Organizer and AMMO NYC, then bought everything I needed to properly maintain it.
But around three months later, the water beading had completely fallen flat.
I called the detailer who had done the job, hoping for some advice. Instead, he told me:
“Well, if you think you can do a better job, then do it yourself.”
So I did. 😂
I locked myself inside the workshop one Saturday, watched an endless number of videos and followed every step as carefully as I possibly could.
After hours of work, I stood back and looked at my freshly ceramic-coated M3.
It looked incredible.
And I was instantly hooked.
What started with basic mechanical repairs and headlight restorations became Mobile AutoHaus. Then came maintenance washes and quick detail sprays. Eventually, I got my first buffing machine for Christmas—and the rest is history.
Fast-forward to 2026, and this is now what we do every day.
We’re trusted with some truly incredible cars, but even more importantly, we’re trusted by incredible customers who allow us to do what we love for a living.
Looking back at these photos, I had absolutely no idea where that first ceramic coating would take me.
Almost nine years later, I genuinely wouldn’t have it any other way.
Sometimes the person who doubts you gives you exactly the push you need.
And This is how Detail AutoHaus began!
