Yay!!!
It passed with flying colours.!!!!!!!!

Now we can rip all the stuff back out of it,,, all the glass & rubbers & seals & re-fit the suspension stuff back in & get it back to the paint shop for final paint.

The body barely moved a smidge,,, way way way less than a Std mini body,,, the Engineer (Earl Gilcrest) was very impressed.

Im so relieved its been such a stress for me for such a long time... but now its all done & dusted & passed easily, strong as an Ox

& all this means that if/when we do another monaco fast-back mini conversion , as long as we do it exactly the same they will just sign-off on it all good to go. We Don't need to stress test again.

Im probably more stressed than the car is at this stage, but it is looking good so far.

Well... the Monaco Stress-test & Torsional rigidity test is happening right now.

Earl is here dictating what needs to happen.

136kgs of weight into each of the 4x seating positions... squash/settles the car down with all the dial indicators attached.
Then remove all that weight... then set all the dial-indicators,,, then add all that weight back in again.
Then read-off the dial-indicators to see if & where any major movement is.

Then remove all those weights again & add 220kgs to the front beam hanging off the drivers side front wheel,,, settles the car into its spot again... then remove all those weights again,,, then set all the dial indicators (one side all the way to the bottom & the other side all the way to the top)
Then add the 220kgs again & read-off the dial-indicators again.

Yee haa

Our guys Robbo & Archie are busting their arses moving all that weight 8x times in total.

Sorry I couldn't help guys but thank you so much for all that hard work.

Well... we just recieved a really good poster of our race-buggy from Pete Trapnell photography from the recent Historic Leyburn street sprints meeting.

Bloody HUGE MASSIVE event... the very best in the year... if youve never been then you really are missing out.

Anyways,,, Crackin shot from Pete & Belinda (as usual) from our very first run (& only run) for the weekend.

This shot you can just see a little puff of smoke coming out of the poor old thing, as its either already shat the turbo or was about to.

I felt it drop in power slightly the previous straight & in this hay-bail chichane section too, so im guessing its already shat itself here & was literally about to smoke like a chimney (which is exactly what it did do after the finish line)

So I coasted back to my pit bay , literally covering the entire pits with a massive cloud of blue smoke... parked it & had the rest of the weekend off.

I did need the break as I was booked-in for my hip replacement surgery the tuesday after this meeting anyways.

I really did want to give it one more run & just send it to see what we could do... i would just guess here but a 45 or 46 sec run would have been maybe 5th or 6th outright & that was completely do-able as we have previously done a 44sec run here so a 45 or a 46 would have been pretty easy.

its literally way faster than its ever been... & handling better than it ever has with the new Hoosier tyres.

But anyways. S**t happens ey? We ended up 11th outright with that one leisurely sighting-run,,,
We had an absolute ball & partied all weekend & that's what life is all about ey?

& special thanks to Joel Lobley racing at Capalaba for the dyno-tune just prior to this meeting,,, it really did make the car way way faster & a far better power delivery than ever before , so thanks heaps n heaps n heaps Joel its the fastest its ever been with 210HP at the wheels.

Crackin fun, I cant wait to fix the turbo (or fit a new one) & get back out to run it some more.

& also a HUGE HUGE HUGE THANKS to Brad Sinclair for all your help mate, hours n hours of hard work & dedication to the cause, punishing yourself over & over for this beaudy little car, thank you sooooooo much mate,,, i seriously wouldnt bother doin all this if it wasn't for you. Hey all... i just popped into the shop today to see what's been happening while ive been away getting a new right hip fitted.

Surgery All went well & im on the road to recovery good & proper.

So, the boys (Archie Robbo & Gory) & Marly have all been looking after the shop while ive been off work & theyve been doing an excellent job,,, thank you so much guys xoxoxoxo

& theyve also been getting the Monaco fastback mini prepped & ready for its Dept of Transport Stress-Testing.

This is pretty involved job setting-up all this stuff plus pretty involved series of tests to see how far the body twists with certain amounts of weights applied upon the corners & the seats ... simulating people sitting in the car... all designed to literally measure thru a series of guages (dial-indicators) to see how far the body moves/twists , & where, & how far it swings back etc.

So Dave we shall know this Tuesday.

If it fails then we will need to brace-up the body some more... & test it all again...

However , if it passes then its off for final paint , upholstery & bright work & get it onto the dyno for a good hard tune.

I should be back at work full-time in a week or 2 ,,, but ill certainly be here this tuesday to see this test happen.

Just back from dropping the boss off for his hip replacement surgery.
The workshop is still open and running with our amazing team holding down the fort for a little while. Rob Dyba Robbo ,Archie and Greg will be there for what ever you need, and sometimes even Marly will be there too 🤣.
We are hoping for a great outcome and speedy recovery for Matthew Read .

Rightyo... we are officially booked-in to Race at Leyburn Street a sprints 30th Anniversary meeting.

Past scrutneering all good,,, got all the race-number stickers on the car (thanks heaps Brad Sinclair , legend sticker fitter)

We can now chill-out for the rest of the day,,, probly go for a trundle around looking at heaps n heaps of awesome race-cars & say hello to all our racing family & friends.

Racing starts tomorow morning after a Drivers briefing, , , we are car #242 if youre watching on the internet thingy... so we are right down the end of the field (as usual)

Im not to confident with the car &/or the tyres but we shall see what its like first run tomorow morning.

I would like to see a 45sec ish run if I can at some time during the weekend,,, but that all depends on how reliable the car is,,, how sticky the tyres are,,, & whether i can hang onto it with 210hp... that's quite a bit more than we have ever had so it should be fun
