On Thursday night, MTAQ brought jobseekers, school students and automotive employers together at our Brisbane South Meet & Greet at Fitzy’s Tavern, Loganholme.

These events are all about making connections that can lead to real careers – giving students and jobseekers the opportunity to meet employers, learn more about the industry and discover what’s possible in automotive.

We’re proud of the work we’ve been doing in workforce development, with Meet & Greet events held across Queensland helping connect people with employers and kick-start careers in our industry🚗🔧

A huge thank you to all the employers, jobseekers, students and industry representatives who came along and helped make the night a success.

Here’s to more conversations, more connections and more people finding their place in automotive! 🙌

It was great to catch up with the team at Lambda Motorcycles and see their business in action.

Member visits are one of the best parts of what we do at MTAQ. Getting out into workshops and businesses gives us the opportunity to hear directly from our members, understand the challenges they’re facing and see the incredible work happening across Queensland’s automotive industry.

A big thank you to the Lambda Motorcycles team for welcoming us in and taking the time to chat🤝

We’re proud to support businesses like yours and to be part of a strong, connected automotive industry. Read more of Mike's story - https://bit.ly/3UNEPGu

R U OK? Day is a reminder that a simple conversation can make a difference, but creating a supportive workplace is something we can do every day.

While September provides an important prompt to check in with the people around us, the real goal is to create conversations that continue long after R U OK? Day.

And that’s where our MTAQ x TradeMutt automotive-themed shirts come in🤝

Designed to be more than just another work shirt, they’re wearable conversation starters - helping break down barriers and create opportunities for meaningful conversations about mental health and wellbeing.

With a QR code tucked underneath the pocket linking directly to TIACS, a free professional counselling service for Australia’s blue-collar community, and “Don’t Shut the Bonnet On It” emblazoned across the back, every shirt helps keep mental health visible in the workshop.

So whether you’re wearing your TradeMutt shirt, grabbing a coffee with a mate, checking in at smoko, or simply asking someone how they’re really going - keep the conversation going.

Because looking after your crew isn’t just for R U OK? Day. It’s every day.

Sometimes the hardest part of checking in on someone isn't deciding whether to ask, it's knowing what to say.

In an industry where conversations often revolve around vehicles, customers, deadlines and getting the job done, asking a mate how they're really doing can feel a little uncomfortable. But a simple conversation can make a meaningful difference.

👉 Listen with an open mind
👉 Encourage action

Host Your Own Toolbox Talk This R U OK? Day 💛🛠

On Thursday 10 September, we're encouraging automotive businesses across Queensland to bring their teams together and make wellbeing part of the conversation.

Whether it's a BBQ breakfast, morning tea, smoko break or team meeting, take a few minutes to check in with your crew and remind them that it's okay to ask, listen and support one another.

Because a stronger industry starts with stronger conversations.

This National Skills Week, under the theme Life Changing Skills, we’re shining a light on the incredible VET trainers who help shape the future of Queensland’s automotive industry👏

Behind every skilled technician, apprentice and automotive professional is a trainer who has shared their knowledge, experience and passion for the trade.

Our trainers do more than deliver training. They build confidence, develop capability and prepare the next generation to take on an industry that is constantly evolving🚗🔧

From emerging vehicle technologies and new repair methods to the skills needed in tomorrow’s workshops, our trainers are helping keep Queensland’s automotive workforce skilled, adaptable and future-ready.

To our MTAI trainers - thank you for investing in the people who are driving our industry forward!
