Getting Tony's S14 up and running again nicely to where it needs to be.

After running some diagnostics, fixing a few things then retuning with a PowerFC, it's nice to give her back to someone that appreciates these cars a much as I do.

"The unglamorous part of an engine build 🔧

No dyno pulls, no reveal — just drilling, tapping threads and setting up the oil flow. Having to block off various oil galleries for the VKS14 build as I am no longer running VCT, using the std timing chain tensioners or running the std oil pump.

The 6 stage Dailey dry sump pump creates too much oil pressure for the std tensioners, so all has to be replaced with mechanical tensioners.

Don't mind my half English weird accent that decided to come out for a play 😅.

However Haltech with the new Nexus Plug and Play ECU's, have also included some awesome bracketry, which allow their ECU's to bolt into the std location nicely!

Awesome feature than just having the ECU stored behind the kick panel loosely without some effort.

Kicking off a new one — Brock's R33 build 👀

Pulled the old pistons out this week and it's clear this motor has done its time — worn skirts, tired rings, ready for a refresh. Going back in is a proper built bottom end: CP-Carrillo forged pistons, Nitto I-beam conrods, a crank collar to go with the new Nitto Oil Pump for extra insurance at higher RPM, and a fresh Nitto head gasket to bring it all together.

This one's being set up to make some serious, reliable power. Follow along for progress updates as the build comes together!

Dyno day! 🔧

The 180SX already had its upgrade done — swapped from the Microtech ECU I originally tuned it on a couple of years ago (395hp) to a newer Haltech Elite 750 ECU, added R35 coilpacks, and moved boost control onto the ECU. Today was about putting it on the Mainline Hub Dyno to confirm the results: 420hp, still on 98 fuel, but now with a lot more response.

VKS14 build update — carbon panel day 🖤

We've had a full set of carbon fiber panels through the shop for this VK-swapped S14: bonnet, both doors, and the boot lid. Each one's been finished with a deep gloss clear coat over the carbon weave, so once they're mounted up the whole car is going to have that clean, aggressive look to match the V8 power under the hood.

Panels are done and ready — next step is getting them fitted to the car. Stay tuned for more progress!
