🏁 The Final Lap – and a New Beginning 🏁
After two decades immersed in motorsport, the time has come for me to officially close the chapter on this incredible journey — and with it, my time in the sport.
My journey began in New Zealand, where I was lucky enough to be part of the NZ V8s and Formula Ford scene, before heading over to Australia to continue in Formula Ford and step up into GT3 racing. That was just the beginning.
I spent time in V8 Supercars, a real milestone in my career, before taking a break to focus on my engineering degree. But the itch to get back into racing never went away, and I returned with some V8 Ute fun, followed by a leap into production racing — including unforgettable experiences at the Bathurst 6 Hour, where I had the incredible opportunity to be apart of the win in 2021 with a BMW and Shane van Gisbergen (SVG), Shane Smollen and Rob Rubis.
From there, it was a return to V8 Supercars, mixed with stints in GT3, GT4, V8 Superutes, Trans Am/TA2, Touring Car Masters and even Porsche Cup and Toyota 86s. Every race, every series — a new challenge, a new learning opportunity. And through it all, I’ve had the privilege of being part of some incredible wins: from 2 New Zealand Formula Ford Championships to winning on the streets of Adelaide in 2013, marking the start of the new era for COTF V8 Supercars. Every victory, every battle, every celebration is something I’ll carry with me.
I’ve tried to leave the sport a few times, but something always gets me back. Whether it was the thrill of the track, the camaraderie in the paddock, or the chance to chase that next big win, I couldn't stay away for long. But now, it feels like the right time to step away for good...
I’ve started a new role that I’m absolutely loving — still deep in Motec products, but now on a Franna Crane. It’s the same core passion that my business was built around, just applied to a new industry. My experience in motorsport data-driven investigations is now helping me contribute to the development of Franna. By analyzing and applying the same data-driven approach used to improve race car performance, I’m working to make these cranes more efficient, reliable, and safe. It’s a chance to grow even more, keep learning, and bring fresh perspectives to the table in a new industry.
Most importantly, I’m excited to be home more. To be present. To watch my son grow up, and be there for all the little moments I don’t want to miss.
To every teammate, client, driver, engineer, and supporter — thank you. I’ve learned something from each of you, and I carry that into every lap I analyze. From the paddocks to the pits, from early mornings to last-lap data crunching — I couldn’t have done it without you. I’m deeply grateful.
Here’s to new beginnings and always chasing improvement — on and off the track.
Godspeed.
