Emergency Update

Please share with family/friends

The latest GFS model now is suggesting that Tropical cyclone Seth may indeed cross anywhere from Sunshine Coast to Gold Coast areas on Tuesday

This update is so people can start getting prepared as a just in case scenario as there is also still a lot of uncertainty

If this system crosses the coast as a weak cat 2 expect:

Wind gusts 125 - 164 km/h but should be closer to 125 ends.

Possible Effects: Minor house damage. Significant damage to signs, trees, and caravans. Heavy damage to some crops. Risk of power failure. Small craft may break moorings

If this system crosses the coast as a strong cat 1 expect:

Wind Gusts < 125km but should be around 125km

Possible Effects: Negligible house damage. Damage to some crops, trees, and caravans.

Tuesday is only a few days out and there is still a huge amount of uncertainty. This system will get very close to the coast if it doesn't cross and may still impact the coast significantly pending on the actual systems path and severity

Preparation is the key and if it doesn't happen that's the best news!

PLEASE NOTE: THIS OUTLOOK COULD CHANGE AND THE SYSTEM STILL HAS A CHANCE OF NOT CROSSING THE COAST AS A CYCLONE OR COULD CROSS AS A STRONG LOW

We are monitoring this closely and will update when required, please keep up to date with Bom Warnings and watch this page!

It was either post this and give enough time in case it happens or wait and see with minimal notice if it does happen

WARNING WARNING WARNING
The BOM has issued several warnings for our area as follows:
Possible extreme high tides (>.5m above king tide) for Sunday through Tuesday.
GALE warning for offshore waters, STRONG WIND warning for Moreton Bay.
Hazardous Surf warning.

What does this mean:
Be sure that you are prepared for very high tides on the canals, or on the waterfront along the passage.
Make sure your moored vessels have strong lines and are secure.
If your vessel is anchored in the passage, think about seeking a sheltered anchorage, and develop a plan in case your anchor drags.
If you are boating, keep away from open waters (stay in the passage)
Be careful on the exposed beaches - don't swim if the beach is closed.
BE PREPARED AND STAY SAFE
