This weekend I finished up the second fleet car from last week.

Thank you again that the warehouse area was made available to complete this job.

I started around 7:30am and, thankfully, had no direct sunlight to battle. That meant I could take my time through the preparation process:

• Individually clean each wheel and wheel well first
• Foam lance body section
• Two-bucket wash method
• Fine clay bar treatment
• Air blower for tight and hard-to-reach areas
• Careful final dry-down

Once the exterior preparation was complete, the vehicle was moved back inside the warehouse.

While the panels cooled down the interior received attention. Carpets, mats, door trims and dashboard surfaces were treated using 303 Products , with Gtechniq Australial Smart Fabric applied to the cabin carpets and mats, and GYEON leather coating for the seats.

The paintwork was polished using a combination of Zvizzer Australia & NZ pads.

After a final panel wipe, the paintwork was protected with my all-time favourite. Gtechniq Australia Crystal Serum Light. Rain-X for all glass surfaces.

This weekend was a little different, as I went onsite for this particular job.

The owner was kind enough to let me use their warehouse, which worked out perfectly given today’s weather forecast. With a ceramic coating freshly applied, the last thing you want is the car getting drenched the following day.

I’ll be completing two of their fleet vehicles, and these upgrades are well deserved for a hardworking team. They take great pride in what they do, so naturally they also wanted to protect and maintain their new work vehicles.

A very heartfelt thank you to my client for giving me the opportunity. They could have taken these cars anywhere, so being trusted with the job makes it that much more satisfying and genuinely humbling.

The interior also received plenty of attention. Carpets, mats, door trims and dashboard surfaces were treated using 303 Products , with Gtechniq Australia Smart Fabric applied to the cabin carpets and mats, and Smart Leather used on the seats.

This weekend I was delighted to work on this brand new 2026 VW Tiguan R. The owner has a particular taste for the type of cars he owns and a rich past of fairly modified cars. Nowadays just taking it a little easier on the mods so needed something OEM with the healthy balance of comfort and thrill. I can certainly confirm it ticks both since I had the pleaseure of driving it home! - I had to look again at the tyres to realize they are 20s! and we all know how smooth the stretch is in Moorooka yet the ride in this was so compliant. Very torque happy and finds anything under 60 boring, like my kiddos expressions when being told to do something they just aren't excited about! 'ok FINE, I'll travel the speed limit but know that I am NOT enjoying this at all!' hah.

The owner was upfront with the dealer to NOT get it machine polished so I got to see if it had any oem imperfections and must say, it didn't. I started early Saturday morning with a full decontamination process:

Foam lance, wash, two-bucket method, fine clay bar treatment, air blower for tight areas, and a careful dry-down before the car came inside.

There was a little patch on the bonnet thanks to a birdie that clearly had more than its stomach would handle. Thankfully hadn't gone past the clear but took a good effort to remove that. The rest of the paintwork was further polished using a combination of Zvizzer Australia & NZ pads. A final wipe down and then coated with my all-time favourite Gtechniq Australia Crystal Serum Light.

The interior surfaces were treated, with the carpets, mats, door trims, and dash all receiving attention as well. 303 products were used and Smart Fabric for the cabin carpet and mats - GYEON leather coating.

I had to return this and while the owner was fine for me to drive this back in the morning, I returned it midnight to avoid traffic and properly enjoy the drive. This Tiguan R will go on to be easy to maintain and retain that gorgeous sparkle this colour has.

Monday update for a change!

While I’m a car detailer myself, when it came to our family cars’ headlights, I chose to use someone who specialises in headlights and the result speaks for itself!

It's worth mentioning that we should all be better at recognising and respecting each other’s skills. If someone has spent time refining and finessing a craft, that deserves credit.

There’s plenty of room to support each other and give credit where it’s due.

Prompt, professional, careful and clearly passionate about his work Beamz Headlight Restoration was great to deal with.

Just trying to get Kia Australia onboard to make me a brand ambassador already :p ;) - Years ago a family friend relocated to Brisbane and they had a specific budget for their family car. I had recommended a Kia Sportage back then and it fit the bill and lasted them well. Unfortunately said Kia Sportage was totalled when a pesky cretin did a hit/run (while the car was parked on the street). Sad end to such a good reliable family car. It only made sense to the owners to purchase a newer version since they were so happy with their Sportage.

I had the honour of protecting their brand new Kia Sportage so its easy to maintain, always looking shiny new and just a delight to use for daily duties.

I started early Saturday morning with a full decontamination process:

Foam lance, wash, two-bucket method, fine clay bar treatment, air blower for tight areas, and a careful dry-down before the car came inside.

Then the paintwork was refined using a combination of Zvizzer Australia & NZ pads. A final wipe down and then coated with one of my all-time favourite Gtechniq Australia Crystal Serum Light.

The interior surfaces were treated, with the carpets, mats, door trims, and dash all receiving attention as well. 303 Products were used and Smart Fabric for the cabin carpet and mats.

A very close mate of mine had referred his brother since he purchased a new Mercedes GLA-200 and I was more than happy to help prepare it before it starts its daily responsibilities.

I'll sound like a broken record here but this is the most ideal time of the car ownership, right at the start, to get it protected from our harsh elements. Often owners will get caught up in the moment of the new car so you don't really consider it at the time, so thanks to my good mate for guiding his brother in both, 1) escaping the full retail of a dealership 'addon' from some random you'll never even come face to face with and 2) ensuring the vehicle gets suitable protection before its heavily used.

In one of those rare moments, I've got some time to post up about our own car and some family van shenanigans that have occurred past few months.

I loved our white Estima, it brought both our babies home from the hospital and all the many family adventures in it - but the 2GRFE, while a sleeper powerhouse, was just too heavy on the pocket :( - so it was time to bid it farewell and let it go to someone who would enjoy it more.

I've only ever had Toyotas or Hondas, so I tried that again with an Odyssey and while its a great car - the example I landed unfortunately needed more work than I was willing to admit at the start, so reality smack later - off it went to another owner (with full disclosure of what was necessary for it). Basically my OCD couldn't handle it..

You read/hear it all the time, the whole 'you only realize what you've lost once it's gone' and yet until you experience it, it doesn't kick in! - on losing the white Estima we realized how much we genuinely preferred the interior space it offered. Forget the engine, it was the interior dynamics and the ease of use with the space it offered. For anyone who knows my car history, I deal in 2s, if not 3s.. so we set out to find a replacement Estima and it didn't take long to find the black one or Blackstima!

This will continue to build over the next few months as time permits. Need to sort out an Android/Apple Play head unit next !

It’s an interesting time in the world. While much sits beyond our control, one thing that always remains within it is how we treat one another. Kindness and respect cost little, yet they can make a real difference. At the end of the day, I’d like to think most people simply want peace of mind and the chance to go about their lives and goals without too much hassle.

Not to get too preachy though.

This long weekend, I had the pleasure of preparing this 2025 BMW iX1 for daily duties. A repeat client, a fantastic owner to deal with, and a job I was only happy to take on this long weekend!

The best time to get proper protection on a vehicle is when it’s brand new and straight out of the dealership.

Anyone familiar with the industry will know that new cars do not always arrive in ideal condition. After time at sea, through ports, transport yards, and dealerships, there is often a fair bit that needs correcting before the surface is truly ready to be protected.

That’s not a criticism of dealerships either. They work at volume, with limited time and different processes. My little detailing setup allows me to take a far more focused approach for the discerning owner.

That said I started early Saturday morning with a full decontamination process:

Foam lance, wash, two-bucket method, fine clay bar treatment, air blower for tight areas, and a careful dry-down before the car came inside.

From there, the paintwork was refined using a combination of Zvizzer Australia & NZ pads and Absolute Valeting compounds depending on the area, before being wiped down and coated with one of my all-time favourite Gtechniq Australia Crystal Serum Light.

The interior surfaces were not overlooked either, with the carpets, mats, door trims, and dash all receiving attention as well. 303 Products and GYEON products utilised.

The owner arrived just before the rain, perfect timing. With 4 to 5 days of undercover parking and no rain exposure, the coating will be well on its way to curing properly and this iX1 will be ready to face daily life, rain or shine!

Belated New Year wishes — and welcome to 2026!

What a way to start the year with this imposing 2026 Hyundai Palisade. I never thought I’d be this excited to work on a Hyundai… but here we are.

The first thing that hits you when this pulls up is: man, this thing is HUGE.

But after a quick drive around the block (once the wash was done and any excess water cleared), it honestly handled like a regular sedan — so smooth, quiet, and effortless. The cabin blocks out the outside world and immerses you in the luxury it oozes.

My dad owns the previous generation Palisade, and I drove that one up from Sydney for a detail and ceramic coating — so I already knew these were great cruisers. But this new version takes it up another level. The interior is seriously well put together.

I’m a massive Toyota fan, but I genuinely struggle to think of a direct Toyota equivalent in this space.

After receiving the Palisade on Friday evening, it was safely parked indoors, the odometer reading was sent through to the owner, and Saturday morning we began the usual OCD treatment.

✅ Exterior Detail

The paint was treated to a full decontamination process:
Deep wash
Clay bar treatment
Air blower dry to chase water out of every hidden spot

✅ Interior Protection

The interior received a full detail including vacuuming and wipe-down of all surfaces, followed by premium protection products:
Gtechniq Australia Smart Fabric for carpets and mats
GYEON Australia Leather Coating for seats and leather trim
303 Products Aerospace Protectant for plastics and interior surfaces

✅ Paint Correction

Paint correction took the most time — especially the bonnet — but we got there in the end.
A combination of Absolute Valeting products, ie Half Cut and Final Cut, paired with Zvizzer Australia & NZ pads, worked an absolute treat.
Last but not least, coated with my favourite, Crystal Serum Light to both protect and enhance the gloss.

A solid 10+ hours went into making this Palisade look better than showroom finish (because let’s be honest… who knows what mass-production products are used before delivery!).

The Palisade was collected by a very excited family, and the kids can now look forward to making memories in this beautiful machine — with that mirror finish shining every step of the way.
