My next mini project car was an AE71 sedan that came up at the right price. It was planned to be a basic build daily cruiser so I could put less k's on my VR4 Galant.

I was offer this car for $500 with a blown head. It was a mint rust free , low k auto 4ac car. The interior was also mint and body was almost perfect.

I got the car home and got to work on it. I found a good quality RWD 4age 16v with ecu and harness from an AE86 , so it needed minimal work to fit.

The motor was Installed and mated to the stock 3 speed auto . I fitted some new headers and mated it to the stock exhaust as my plan was a mint daily.

I fitted some kings lower springs and SSR 15 x 7 wheels for the sweet look. I also added some guard mount mirrors to give it the JDM look.

The interior was was upgraded with a new audio system, for enjoyed driving.

Surprisingly the auto did not take any of the 4age characteristics away and it drive it came that way.

For the Toyota fans. It was a great little car.

Sometimes you have to test before you send harnesses to customers. haha.

A spare CAS and a drill to test signals and basic outputs.

I powered the Haltech Elite 1000 and used some injectors nodes to confirm the injectors and coils are firing.

Some final testing and the harness will be on it way to the customer in WA.

This is a direct fit harness for and Evo 3 the consist of the oem harness critical wires , grafted into a Haltech flying lead loom .

It has some extra sensors installed to maximise the control.

Direct fire Yaris coil setup also. It should give the engine a nice clean look with the harness being semi tucked.

Robbie Ratumu car back to get the cruise control working and some new low fittings for the catch can.

When I installed the e throttle and tried to get the the cruise control working , I had trouble with the stock speed sensor from the dash cluster throwing very inconsistent signals amd caused the cruise control to not activate.

I decided to fit the Haltech gps speedo sensor. I wired and calibrated before taking the car for a test drive. Cruise control is now active and with some minor tweeks in the Link ECU is ready for Robbie to pick it up.

While the car was here , I was asked to fit some low profile fitting's for the catch can hoses as the current fittings were hitting the bonnet.

I started with a fresh valve cover and had some 10 orb female bosses welded in . Then I fitted some -10 banjo fittings.

After a couple hours cleaning and sanding ,I gave the valve cover a fresh coat of red heat proof paint and cleaned off text for a better look. I fitted a new gasket set and some new sparks plugs.

Robbie also dropped some 18" wheels to throw on.

The small things make a difference.

Not everyone's flavour, but this week I fitted an underglow kit to my car. A cheap kit but works well.

A little time consuming to fit but the outcome was great. Ready for a night time hard parking .

Over the weekend I did a quick upgrade on Chanfoon Jerome car trailer. The wiring was a little old and needed some new lights..

I fitted all new side markers so he knows where all the corners at night.

Also added 4 spot lights to help with night loading .

And for flare , we added a 10 led underglow kit.

The end look was awesome and really sets the trailer off.

The next car in my automotive journey. This is my 1990 VR4 Galant Aus spec . This is the same car as I still own but in a different form.

This was the week I bought the car in around 2005-06 . The first mod was the new wheels and windows tint..

It had the basic upgrades of the time. It had 120k on the clock and had an Evo 2 16g turbo with Plazmaman Intercooler pipe kit with cheap 300x600x65 intercooler , 880cc injectors with a Wlabro 255 pump and Meek Automotive chip tune and 3" exhaust .

A great starting point that over the years the car has had some upgrades.

The first thing that happened was a headgasket from over boosting and knocking due to the stock boost guage being changed to a knock guage and I didn't know. haha.

At the time of the headgasket , I had some BC 272 cams installed for some lump.

Another 6 months later I had a balance shaft belt failure .

This sent me down the path of a new engine build and to get the head rebuilt due to bent valves .

The bottom was built with Wiseco 8.3:1 pistons, S**t rods and ACL bearings. The head was ported and oversized valves were fitted. The BC cams stayed in for the ride and this engine is still in the car now.

I will add updates .

My next car in my history .

This is my 1984 AE71 panel van . I bought this car in 2000 as a white car with an 16v 4age , T50 transmission .

The previous owner was the owner of the exhaust shop I used for my GA Galant . I use to see this car all the time , when catching a train to my work.

I drove it for a couple years and beat on the 4age hard . It's never let me down, but it was time for more power.

I ended up removing the 4age 20v from my other car and sold it as a roller . I decided to fit the engine to to this car with some small upgrades.

I ended up stripping down engine and fitting some Wiseco pistons on a freshly balanced and rebuilt bottom end.

In that time I had the car resprayed in hothouse green from a commodore and the painter wanted to give it some flare, so we went with harlequin flames at the front..haha. I know it was the early 2000s.

I had a steam pipe turbo manifold to suit a Garret GT25 turbo on. I had a custom plenum made to utilise the stock quad throttle bodies.

I used the Wolf 3d ecu from the other car and upgraded to supra injectors and got it up and running and running on 10 psi made about 180whp.

It was a good start and the second hand turbo blew up. I replaced with a Garret GT2871 and had it retuned to a safe 13psi ( stock 4age rods ) and it made 215whp

This new power was great for the time as it was tearing gear boxes apart. Many T50s later , I decided on fitting a alloy case box from a Toyota corona ( supra 5 speed ) . Now the gearbox was good but would eat the teeth off the diff centre.

I did take it to the drags a couple times and did a best of 13.5 @ 106mph.

It was a very fun car bit after years of owning it and my next car , it would sit around so I decided o moving it on.

Hope you enjoy. The mighty 4age.
