New season, new car. Only a couple of days after picking up this FG XR8 I had it out on track. It wasn't all smooth sailing. I had to change an axle seal before it was ready to go. I also changed the fluids and front pads (which only lasted 9 laps). But I got some good baseline data.

Since then ive been working on some upgrades. New brakes (obviously), coilovers and some camber adjusters.

I finally started ticking off the mods on my Mustang Dark Horse. I can't believe the difference some wheels, aero bits and light engine mods made. It now looks exactly like the vision I had in my head when I first took her home.

The battle between my 2024 Mustang Dark Horse and my 2021 Maxh 1 had been brewing for a while. To settle the score I took them to the drag strip:

The Dark Horse won both events and even though it was heavier and put out less power on the dyno proved itself to be a worthy winner. Unfortunately at the end of the track day I put the Mach 1 into a tyre barrier. Can't say I wasn't trying. Check out the damage and what my plan is next 😪:

Meet my 1976 XC Fairmont Hardtop!

I finally did it—I bought my dream Hardtop! After years of waiting, I couldn’t pass up this beauty. She has a rich history, staying in one family since new, and now she’s ready for her next chapter with me.

She’s mostly original, with factory paint and an unmolested interior, but under the hood? That’s a different story. Numbers matching 302 stroked to a 351, stage 2 shift kit, 9-inch diff with 3.5 gears—and she’s even seen some time on the drag strip.

This wasn’t just a car purchase—it came with an emotional story, and I even made a promise to her previous owners.

There was so many events and activities on offer and I even got some expert instruction from which made a massive difference to my lap time. But I still can't believe that less than a week later someone decided that our boot and bumper needed to be rearranged so we wouldn't have the car over Christmas. 😢

She'll be back though!

Just for some happy laps but it was still heaps of fun. I was really hoping that my Dark Horse would be there but Ford have deemed that not to be. I did run into one though and to top it off we had a mini side by side hit on the front straight.

After I gave her a bit more power, took a bit of weight out of her and added a new set of wheels and tyres she was quick enough for a second place, and better than that second in class for the series. I did park her in a gravel trap on the way to that second place but if you don't end up there every now and again I guess you're not pushing hard enough. 😂
