We also took out one of our more humble RB26 packages running an Albins sequential. It doesn’t make the big flashy numbers of some of the other cars, just a modest 950hp from an 05U block, but what it does have is an absolutely killer flat shift and a package that simply works.

This thing held its own all weekend and showed exactly what a well-rounded GTR can do when every part of the combination is working together. No chasing tunes, no laptops, no changes. Just fuel it up, line it up and let it do its thing.

Built fully in-house just like KANTA, with the combined efforts of the team at Empire, MJS and an engine package put together by Trent. It’s a perfect example of what a proper sequential-equipped GTR is capable of when everything is set up correctly. Swipe right to see this in action. This also made it into top 4.

It showed up, got out there and got down. No drama, no fuss, just doing exactly what it was built to do.

Another massive effort from everyone involved. Super proud of what the team continues to achieve.

First outing for KANTA and what an epic result.

Straight into the Top 3 on its very first event.

No laptop. No changes. No trackside adjustments. The car literally rolled off the dyno around midnight making 1200hp and went straight into battle exactly as it sat.

The ZF8-70 did exactly what it was meant to do. After more than 4 years of development and calibration on TurboLamik, it’s awesome to see the package perform exactly as intended.

Traction control was off all weekend, Senad had to pedal it in a few races, and it held its own against cars that have spent years being developed and have gone deep into the 8s.

What makes this even cooler is that there is virtually nothing stock left in the car. Every system has been thought through, integrated and calibrated to work together. Even the AWD system is running a completely custom control strategy I wrote myself, all controlled through Haltech wired back to front by Whiteys.

Everyone tagged in this post played a part in making KANTA what it is today. The late nights, long days, fabrication, wiring, mechanical work, assembly and development all added up to this moment.

A fresh 1200hp AWD package, first outing, Top 3.

We’re only just getting started.

1255hp now out of the combo on the G45-1350 and honestly this thing just keeps surprising me every single time we lean on it. For what it is and how responsive the setup is, it’s an absolute weapon.

Again this was all done around the 38-39psi mark and the thing flat out works. We’ve spent a heap of time refining how the setup comes onto boost and making the whole package more aggressive without making it horrible to drive. One of the coolest parts of the setup is the second DBW motor strategy we’re using to help flash up turbo speed.

Instead of using it traditionally, we’re intentionally introducing a controlled boost leak through the second DBW motor which helps accelerate turbo speed and get the thing onto boost significantly harder. At the same time it’s also tied into the rolling anti-lag strategy, so the whole setup works together properly rather than fighting itself.

The result is wild. Crack the DBW open and the thing genuinely comes on like nitrous. Rather than rolling into boost lazy like most bigger turbo setups, it just flat punches into boost and carries hard everywhere. Makes the turbo feel way smaller than what it actually is and completely changes how responsive the car feels.

What’s even crazier is this is still on a stock port 1J setup. Gang gang.

This thing honestly keeps surprising me with how well it responds to changes and how much tech is now tied into the setup. The more time we spend refining it, the more efficient and repeatable the whole package becomes.

Interesting part was we started seeing the injectors beginning to fall over around the 84% mark. Fuel pressure differential honestly wasn’t bad, only slightly dropping off, but safeties are set up tight so everything stayed within the same 10% safety window where I’m comfortable keeping it. Data did exactly what it was meant to do and showed us the next limitation before anything became an issue.

Huge thanks to Jake as well for smashing out the whole fuel system fix last night and wiring the whole thing up properly to get us back into it. Massive effort to turn it around that quickly.

Absolute animal of a combo.

Whilst we were at GTR Festival doing some testing, Jase decided to take the little RX3 out for a few hits at .

This thing has literally only seen some trans-brake limiter changes since it rolled off the dyno… and that’s it. Same combo, same tune from 3 years ago, still out there doing lap after lap without missing a beat.

Pretty proud of this one honestly. The little RX3 that could.

Half track testing and it rolled out a 10.7 @ 98mph back-to-back with an okay 1.4 60ft, all while still being on a Haltech Elite 750. It still takes a bit to get it up on the converter with the limited functions of the 750, but it just keeps working.

Data is showing this thing has an 8-second pass in it once we really lean on it properly and get some more time with it. Crazy what 550hp can do in a lightweight rotang package.

Personally I’ve lost count of how many hard laps this thing has done over the years. It just keeps asking for more.

Next time I’ll head out with Jase and we’ll really have a play with it.

Swipe across to watch the run 👌

Just a quick update from us at SMWTuning.

We are currently away attending GTR Festival and KOTS, carrying out testing and support with customer cars, so the workshop will be closed until Monday.

We’ve also been a little quiet recently due to a minor medical situation, but happy to say everything is now sorted and we’re back on track.

Additionally, we recently became aware that some customer calls were being automatically redirected to voicemail without notice. This issue has now been rectified after a few customers kindly reached out via email to let us know. If you’ve experienced this recently, please don’t hesitate to contact us again.

We are currently taking bookings from June onwards.

Thank you to everyone for the continued support and patience.

KANTA getting some proper run-in boost now while testing the Turbosmart 8280 setup.

Currently making a clean 1020hp through a locked ZF8 8-speed auto at only 31psi, and this is just the beginning. Over the next few months we’ll be doing more development on the combo, testing different cam setups and cam timing strategies, then eventually spraying it with gas to really lean on it.

Even with the current setup, there’s nearly 1000rpm of response sitting in the intake cam timing alone on this little Nitto 2.8 package. Goes to show how much is in the calibration and combination, not just throwing parts at it.

One of the coolest parts about this car is there’s basically no original Nissan electronics left in it anymore. The entire Attessa system is now custom programmed and controlled via PDM, the whole car runs through multiple PDMs, fully keypad controlled with automated mode switching and functions throughout the car.

This is one of the shop cars built by Matt, myself and the owner together. Some of you will remember it as AKR32.

Pretty wild seeing a clean, responsive 1020hp through an auto RB combo.

Chris’s VF came in for a full MoTeC M150 package and calibration on one serious setup.

427 stroker, 2650 blower, full keypad integration and a heap of features all tied together properly. Once we started going through the car with the MoTeC logging and diagnostics, we quickly found the fuel system wasn’t keeping up with the level of the combo.

Matt rectified it properly by converting the car to a full return fuel system using an AI 1200HP fuel pump kit, giving the car the control and supply it needed.

The MoTeC integration in this thing is next level, full plug and play package with a complete harness from Whitey’s Wiring and GE Race Tune. Everything functions like factory but with full motorsport level control underneath. Brad from GE Race Tune is a genius when it comes to MoTeC integration.

On the tuning side, we’ve setup advanced traction strategies using blower bypass control and throttle movement to properly shape torque delivery rather than just harshly cutting power.

Result is a car making just shy of 1000hp at only 16psi while still driving clean and smooth like a factory car.

Massive effort from everyone involved on this one.

Luke came in chasing a genuinely responsive RB package and to diagnose a persistent misfire issue.

After going through the car properly, we found the fire rings weren’t sealing correctly due to the engine setup, allowing water into the cylinders. Once that was sorted, the goal became clear build a 1000+hp GTR that still drives like a proper street car.

A big part of that was rethinking the cam package. We dropped down from the larger SG Kelfords to a 272 SF high lift setup and picked up nearly 1000rpm in response. Goes to show, contrary to what a lot of people think, bigger doesn’t always mean better especially on a smaller capacity 2.8L RB setup where velocity and efficiency matter.

Result is a car making 1010hp @ 32psi with room left in it, while still driving like a stocker on Dekka 2400s. Full boost and proper power delivery coming in from around 4500-5000rpm onwards with the G42 setup.

Huge credit to Matt at MJS for all the in-house work on this one. The attention to detail shows in how cleanly this thing drives and responds.

Animal 32 getting its final touches and laying down a solid 942hp at 32psi.

This thing is an absolute animal and now with the Albins sequential fully calibrated, it’s become a whole different experience again.

The boys have absolutely nailed the parts selection on this build. Everything was built in-house and the attention to detail shows through everywhere on the car.

From the engine package through to the driveline setup, it all works together exactly how it should. Proper street manners, brutal power delivery and a gearbox setup that completely changes how the car feels.

Massive credit to everyone involved in bringing this thing together. Keen to keep developing it further.

Bit of fun on this one running a MoTeC M150 on a 2JZ with nitrous, and really getting into the detail with the cam setup to make everything work together properly.

Spent a solid amount of time dialing in the cam control to suit both boost and nitrous delivery, and it’s all come together nicely. The nitrous side of things has been especially interesting — full control strategy built into the ECU and managed over CAN via the PDM, giving us clean, reliable activation and a heap of flexibility.

We’ve set up multiple boost levels and launch settings all off the same buttons, with the ability to change how aggressive the power comes in depending on track prep. So whether the surface is tight or fully prepped, we can shape the torque curve accordingly and make the car far more usable and repeatable.

Everything talks nicely together — ECU, PDM, nitrous control, boost control and launch strategies. It’s a proper integrated setup rather than a patchwork of systems fighting each other.

The level of control these modern systems offer now is honestly wild. Being able to tailor torque delivery, nitrous ramp, boost response and launch behavior all through one ecosystem makes a huge difference when you’re trying to get a car to leave consistently and still be manageable.

Now it’s at the point where it just needs the bump and race timers dialed in and it’ll be ready to go chase some numbers.
